We’re proud to be supporting the Royal Jersey Wednesday League for the 2026 season!
It’s a fantastic event that brings players together week after week, and we’re delighted to be involved for a second year. Best of luck to everyone taking part and we look forward to another great summer of golf. ⛳️
Be sure to check out the full details in their post and get involved if you can. The 2026 Wednesday [Evening] League season will commence on the 6th May. All full and social men and women are welcome to play. Tees, purple (previously yellow) is the normal one for men to use but if you want to play off the gold (previously red) tees – please do so. You should note that in doing so, you’ll lose around 4 shots (ie if you play off an 18-competition handicap, you’ll be a 14 handicap off the red tees). The WHS handicap system should allow all scores to be treated as the same.
Sponsorship – it is wonderful to continue for a second year with Sunworks Jersey as our sponsor. (Thank you, Ian, for arranging this). Please check them out on their website. (www.sunworks.je).
For full details on the league format etc., please go to our website (wednesdayleague.org.je and there is a connection button below).
The 2026 season will hold 14 league competitions, every Wednesday from the 6th May until the 5th August. On the 12th August, we will hold the scramble event and after the dinner that evening hand out the 2026 league prizes. There will also be a match against the Ladies on Thursday 3rd August.
Every week, we will be rewarding the successes of that afternoon. Prizes will go to both Individual and Team, 1st, 2nd and 3rd plus all Birdie2s and any Eagles. This can only happen after all scores are posted which will occur as soon as possible once they have been received. We will continue to try and take photos and post these on the league’s page (connection button below). The last players typically return by 8:45pm. Therefore, we try and make sure that you can all depart by 9:15pm if not earlier.
Dining after play – you are encouraged to stay behind for dinner in the clubhouse. In this way, you’ll meet up with two other tees (9 players per table) and enjoy the social interaction. The random draw for a sleeve of balls happens at the end of the prizegiving rewards for those that stay.
The competitions will continue to be a roll up event. The book will open at 2:00pm in the Pro Shop and play will commence at 3:00pm. Last players need to get onto the course before 5pm. Late players – we would emphasise that anyone playing after 4.00 is required to book a tee time – available from 1 week in advance of the competition. This will apply for a trial period (May). Anyone who does not book in advance may be able to play on the day, if a space is available.
The rangers will direct you to the appropriate tee (either 1st or 10th). This will ensure that you start as quickly as possible. Please keep up with the group in front. (Yes, we know the rough will be an issue as we search for that slightly errant shot.)
Costs: as per previous years, there is a one-off league entrance fee of £15 and there is also a competition fee of £5. Both these fees will be deducted from your club card when your register to play in the PSI machine.
Don’t forget:
1) Arrive at the golf on the Wednesday afternoon.
2) Go and enter the Pro Shop to Register and get put together with two other players (* & **).
3) Go into the clubhouse and Register on the PSI system to get your “competition handicap” (typically one less than your “course handicap”).
4) Select the tee that you will be using (purple or gold) on the PSI.
5) This is a stableford competition, note your handicap for both the individual and team competition.
6) The Team card – the best stableford score on each hole is recorded. One of your tee group should assume responsibility for this.
7) Later players. See above – for the month of May (and possibly longer) we are trialling an online sign in.
* This year, when you enter the Pro Shop, the Pro Shop staff are mandated to fill from the top of the start list. No more groups of two players with odd players filling in.
** We are introducing a maximum of 3 times that two players can play together. The exception being the last pairings where their arrivals dictate limited choice. Once you have played with someone 3 times, any further times will not accrue any Team league rewards or points.
Organisers – John Eddy, Rob Leader and Mark Smith with the able assistance of our sponsor’s representative, Ian Brandon.
Help – every Wednesday, we need help sorting the cards at the end of play. We know the PSI system takes care of a lot of the work however failure to register, hand in your cards (individual and Team) delays the final part of the evening.
Finally, we all - both current and past players - hope that you can attend at least a few events. Please note that these rounds count towards the competition card count for other club events.
