A couple of weeks ago, Shelley Kendrick of Kendrick Rose and our very own Kiley Henley MCIPD - Enhance HR got together to discuss the red and green flags in recruitment.

There were insights, 'aha' moments and even a few laughs. Here is the trailer - the full episode will be available tomorrow. It seems as those these two could have continued sharing their experiences for hours - maybe there will be a part 2!?

At Enhance HR, we focus on people, principles and procedures - in that order.

Our work this week demonstrates that - here are a few highlights.

On Tuesday, we attended the JET Jaunt reunion - we had a small part in the event by sponsoring the award night drinks in Prague but Kiley Henley had a slightly bigger part - she was one of the 52 participants who were racing. At the event, we learned the challwnge had raised £25,890.00 for Jersey Employment Trust and Kiley and her race mate won the prize for best social storytelling. We hope the few days she took away from the business to run across Europe dressed as a squirrel raised some awareness for this important charity that helps people with long term health issues and disabilities to find valuable work.

On Wednesday, we delivered a workshop to a group of parents as part of the community initiative, - this was alongside another HR consultant and was organised by Denise B Heavey, founder od the initiative. To raise awareness, Kiley also did an interview with Alice who is initiative co-founder and runs Parenthub.

These two causes not only great for the people they support, but they align with our principles and are good for businesses, because they help to ensure key employment skills are not lost.

In between this, we have taken on another new client, are attending a roundtable tonight, have written a new course to deliver next month and have been doing yhe day job. So we might be "HR" - but maybe that stands for "Human Really". We get the juggling. We get that when you care about what you do, the lines can blur.

We get business - we also get you.

Yesterday saw the launch of the MentorHood Jersey workshops - I was really proud to deliver the first one alongside a respected peer, Melanie (Hightide HR).

We covered parental leave rights and returning to work after parental leave. Future sessions are:

• Thriving in Parenthood: Stress and Overwhelm
• Tap into Your Career
• Strong Foundations: Confidence & Financial Clarity

Denise B Heavey created MentorHood after seeing so many parents facing barriers to employment and realising the skills that are disappearing from our market. Alice Vincenti (Founder of Parenthub) has cofounded this community initiative and brings a clinical approach. Trusted professionals across the island are donating their time to deliver these workshops to parents, to educate businesses and to help to shape policies.

Today was a little different to a usual day in the office - the second meeting of the day started at The Lido, Havres Des Pas, St Helier with two legs and ended further along the coast with three!

BBC Jersey have been involved in a challenge, which has seen BBC teams across the UK and Channel Islands work together to cover one thousand miles - three legged! Kiley Henley played a small role in this today by having her leg strapped to Alison Moss's for a walk and talk about Mentorhood Jersey, and how support for parents benefits children.

Enhance HR will be delivering the first workshop with Hightide HR, founder by Melanie Grandfield, next week. The session is now full but will be delivered again in 2026.
