The new national minimum wage is now in effect.

As of July 1, 2026, Jamaica’s minimum wage has increased to JMD $17,000 per 40-hour work week, with the hourly rate moving to JMD $425 per hour.

Employers are encouraged to review payroll systems, wage structures, overtime rates and employee records to ensure compliance with the updated requirements.

Employers are being reminded to review their payroll and HR practices following the approved increase in Jamaica’s national minimum wage.

Effective July 1, 2026, the minimum wage will move from $16,000 to $17,000 per 40-hour work week. The standard hourly wage will also increase from $400 to $425 per hour.

For businesses, this is an important time to ensure that employee wages, overtime calculations and internal HR records are updated in keeping with the new rates.
