Founded in 2003, the Jamaica Productivity Centre is the national organization tasked with facilitating the improvement of productivity in all spheres of the nation’s economic and community life. Governed by a tripartite council drawn from government, labour and business, the JPC is located in Kingston. The Centre discharges its responsibilities through programmes that focus on research, providing
information, training, facilitation, advisory services, productivity auditing and monitoring productivity issues. These programmes engage Jamaican productivity issues at all levels, from the teaching of productivity awareness to students through to sophisticated productivity improvement tools designed to boost the efficiency of private and public enterprises. The Jamaica Productivity Centre has a vital role to play in Jamaica’s economy in the years ahead. The organisation’s immediate responsibility is to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the Jamaican economy and lead the process of transformation to a productivity-conscious culture, thus boosting the economy and creating jobs.
