Art Therapy Jamaica is entering a new chapter.

Since pausing services in March 2025, our work has evolved toward group and community-based creative wellness experiences.

We are now focused on workshops and programs that support reflection, connection, and emotional wellbeing through art.

At this time, individual sessions are limited and offered online only.

Thank you for your patience and for continuing to grow with us.

✨ World Su***de Prevention Day ✨
Today, we honor those we have lost, uplift those who are struggling, and remind one another that hope and healing are always possible. 💛

Art helps us express the things we cannot always say. Through creativity, we can release, reflect, and reconnect with life.

Together, let’s spread compassion and light. 🌟

Sankofa means to go back and get it" or "learn from the past to build the future".

For me, the Caribbean Regional Psychology Conference 2025 - was filled with moments of decolonizing the traditional forms of psychology by affirming more afrocentric approaches and Caribbean based focus in therapy. There was a thread of the role of spirituality in different ways.
Sir Hilary Beckles gave such a riveting speech that affirmed the role of our lived experiences, channeling our ancestors and using this to inform our work as therapists within the region. It felt very aligned with the work that Kim Valldejuli and myself are doing in the publications we have written. To top it off we got to present on our first paper "Shifting the narrative: An intersectional exploration of Caribbean based art therapy".

I also got to experience some elements of the Barbadian culture with the Tuck band.
Let's see where this journey continues to go.

I believe in community and the Caribbean experience. Knowing we have a history of oral, often means our lived experiences may get lost because it isn't written.

Well Lesli-Ann Belnavis Elliott, ATR - and Kim Valldejuli, ATR-BC - will be presenting this Wednesday June 11, 2025 at the Caribbean Regional Psychology Conference on our paper "Shifting the narrative: An Intersectional exploration of Caribbean based art therapy".

I believe in culture and having information highlighting what works for Caribbean folks. I have found community in other Caribbean based Art Therapists. This new article was birthed from many discussions with the other art therapists who had similar experiences within their clinical practice.

Kim Valldejuli (MA, ATR-BC) and myself continue to do research and submit articles that highlight our experiences and culturally relevant experiences as Caribbean art therapists.

Our latest article "Spiritual Therapeutic Interplay: A Framework in Art Therapy for Working with Caribbean Clients" got accepted in the Canadian Art Therapy Journal.
