I started my business while living in Richmond City, with no intention of ever leaving. Alas, "the best laid plans of mice and men..." I now live in Chester, and although grateful for the salubrious country air, miss the ebb and flow of the city - especially at night. I loved hanging out at the Starbucks on Robinson, then walking back in the cool night air to my apartment on Grove Avenue.
What do I miss about the city? Well, for one thing, all the people I got to know over time, walking and working across the city. I swear I know every homeless person within a 5 mile radius of Grove Avenue...and they know me.
Out here in Chester, its a bit lonesome, and that is exacerbated by the fact that I have no car...yes, I admit it..most of my work has been conducted utilizing good old PUBLIC transportation. So, I miss the wonderful bus service, from my apartment on Grove Avenue, it was a quick step across the road to catch the #3 and 4 buses to Downtown Richmond or to Cary Street. Public transportation is to me, better than sliced bread! A great, needed invention. How lonely it is to be driving by oneself in an empty car when you could be sharing the experience with 40 or so assorted people!
Then, Richmond city also has the largest concentration of Poke Stops ever! Just a quick walk down Broad Street will find you limitless, unique Pokemon and the Sports bar poke stop in the Marriott Hotel on Broad is an ever replenishing fountain of potions, poke balls and the like!
So now that I am in Chester, I am going to HAVE to get a car! Luckily, my son and his wife share their vehicles with me when they can, so I am still able to work fairly easily - but less so that when in Richmond with the fabulous GRTC on call! Well, I should adjust! I will.
