COP27 is on in earnest and apparently the outlook isn't that good. There haven't been much progress by developing countries who committed in 2009 at COP15, to provide 100 billion dollars annually to fight climate change. Additionally, it seems as if the goal to keep global temperatures at or below 1.5 degrees will not be a reality. This is very concerning, and that is why we are suggesting that the Caribbean region unite in our efforts to combat the impact of climate change and in the process, invite the Islands of the Pacific to join with us.
We must have unity of purpose to fight this monster and we must show the developed countries that while they are haggling over funding, we the SIDS are very serious because the impact will be more dire on our countries.

A loving mother nurtures, ensuring that her child/children are proper molded and provided with all the tools necessary to be successful in the real world.
So does the natural environment or “mother nature,” it provides for us all the raw materials that we need for our comfort. The only thing it wants of us is to treated with care and respect and not be exploited. It is about balance and conservation.
Take the rivers for example, it provides us with food and water and some are use for navigation.
The only thing it requires of us is not to pollute,
and not to destroy watersheds. Is that too much to asked?

Haphazard development within a Mangrove Forest in Jamaica, can cause the lost of important ecosystem services.

Have you ever given serious thought to the ecosystem benefits that are provided by Mangrove Forests. Ok, here are several:
1. Sediment detention
2. Carbon Sequestration - assist in regulating atmospheric carbon balance
3. Water purification
4. Prevent coastal erosion and absorb storm surges, protecting coastal areas.
5. Purifies water
6. Wildlife Habitat and areas refuge for endanger species of fish and birds
7. Nursery for commercial fish stock.
It is, therefore, absolutely important to conserve and protect these vital ecosystems. Any development in mangroves should be done in a sustainable manner to ensure continued benefits to the community.
