GJU PIE - Program Innovation & Entrepreneurship

GJU PIE - Program Innovation & Entrepreneurship “Jobs creation through responsible innovations”
Our program aims to develop a platform for innovators and entrepreneurs at GJU.

Program Innovation & Entrepreneurship is one of the programs of the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) that aims to establish an innovation and startup culture at GJU and to develop Technology Transfer. In 2013, the OIL started to implement activities that will lead to the establishment of a Technology Transfer, Innovation and Entrepreneurship support office. In March 2014, the OIL conducted a wo

rkshop on the local innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. More than 50 organizations participated and collaborated to define the opportunities and to understand the local innovation ecosystem. Later in November 2014, GJU participated in the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) as host of seminars on entrepreneurship by different speakers, innovators and business owners from Jordan. The one day event concluded workgroup activities, introducing students’ business ideas which were evaluated by a panel of judges, Including Oasis500, Pioneers, among others. To keep acting as a role model for the region in its focus on applied sciences and collaboration with the industry, GJU organized a workshop in February 2015 on University Industry Partnerships as a follow up to the innovation ecosystem workshop and implementation of some of its recommendations. OIL has organized the Startup Weekend, it was the first of its kind event in Jordan Universities (Startup Weekend Education Edition). OIL organized a Health Hackathon in November 2015, an event established for the first time in the Middle East region. It is part of the Program Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) activities to help the students gain the knowledge and entrepreneurial skills needed to implement their ideas and support the vision of the University in its "Education for Employment and Entrepreneurship"

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Winter edition 2021/2022

As a continuation to the food design program Food:Fabrikwhich started in 2020, the Goethe-Institut Jordanien together with Namliyeh are excited to launch FABRAKAT: a transdisciplinary training and mentorship program on food design.
Designers play a significant role in imagining new scenarios for food-related issues such as biodiversity loss, climate crisis and others. The participants will be guided throughout the program by high-profile experts in the field of food design and entrepreneurship, and their learning process will be further enriched by personalised mentorship and coaching. The journey will be concluded with food system design interventions in participation with both the private and public sectors, working closely with stakeholders within diverse contexts to implement food-focused business models, projects, experiences, and products.
