CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Winter edition 2021/2022
Starting November 2021
Deadline to submit applications: 30.10.2021
As a continuation to the food design program Food:Fabrikwhich started in 2020, the Goethe-Institut Jordanien together with Namliyeh are excited to launch FABRAKAT: a transdisciplinary training and mentorship program on food design.
Designers play a significant role in imagining new scenarios for food-related issues such as biodiversity loss, climate crisis and others. In light of these pressing issues, the program targets young designers and creatives who believe that impactful change within their communities is possible through collective action, while acquiring new sets of skills related to social innovation, business development and environmental advocacy.
Centered around four modules, FABRAKAT offers its participants a unique experience to become well-rounded practitioners in food design through innovative hands-on training coupled with real-life challenges across a variety of industries that food is an integral part of, including but not limited to, tourism, urban planning, education, agriculture, and hospitality.
The participants will be guided throughout the program by high-profile experts in the field of food design and entrepreneurship, and their learning process will be further enriched by personalised mentorship and coaching. The journey will be concluded with food system design interventions in participation with both the private and public sectors, working closely with stakeholders within diverse contexts to implement food-focused business models, projects, experiences, and products.
The program includes hands-on workshops, design sprints, critical field studies, film discussions, presentations, exhibitions, research excursions, and a final design project.
