The Saison Foundation is a grant-making foundation that supports contemporary Japanese theater & dance and operates Morish*ta Studio in Tokyo. 公益財団法人セゾン文化財団は、初代理事長の堤清二の私財によって設立された助成型財団です。日本の現代演劇・舞踊の振興、およびその国際交流の促進に寄与するため、1987年より助成活動を行っています。当財団は、以下の基本方針をもって支援活動を展開しています。
■創造活動への支援
──個々の公演ではなく、創造のプロセスを総合的にサポートしています。
──新しい表現の探求と、活動のステップアップに支援の重点を置いています。
■長期的視点に立った継続的な支援
──単発ではない、複数年にわたる助成を原則としています。
──助成先との密接なパートナーシップにもとづいた支援活動を指向しています。
■資金のみではない複合的な支援
──作品創造や学び合いのための「場」を提供しています。
──団体の法人化、会計、税務など活動運営に関する相談にお応えします。
このほかに、当財団が運営する森下スタジオを拠点として、セミナー、レジデンス事業やショーイング等の主催・共催事業を行っています。
The Saison Foundation is a private grant-making foundation founded by its first president, Seiji Tsutsumi. The foundation supports contemporary Japanese theater and dance through its programs that are based on the following principles:
(1) Offering support to creative activities
The Saison Foundation supports the creative process in a holistic way instead of funding single productions/performances, and puts emphasis on assisting artists so they may explore new ways of expression and see progress in their activities. (2) Offering support based on long-term perspectives
In principle, the Saison Foundation offers multi-year support to our grantees rather than making single-year grants. (3) Offering integral support
The Saison Foundation not only awards grants but also offers places and opportunities for the creation of artistic works or gaining knowledge and skills. We also provide consulting services to our grantees on management issues, such as incorporating their theater/dance companies, accounting, and taxes. Additionally, we host or co-sponsor seminars, residencies, and showings at Morish*ta Studio, which is owned and operated by the Saison Foundation.
