It’s normal to have questions in your mind when you hear about a new opportunity.

Your brain wants to know if it’s for you… and if it’s safe 😎

That’s why I’m hosting a free, live webinar with Q&A (説明会).

I’ll walk participants through the new, time-efficient 6-week online group program I’m piloting for women managers and executives in Japan stepping into bigger global business roles.

The 6-week program will help you
✔ ease your nerves before you speak, so you can show up like a leader
✔ organize your thoughts quickly, so your main point comes across clearly
✔ use body language intentionally to look confident, even if you don’t fully feel it yet
✔ learn vocal techniques that make people listen and respect your input
✔ handle Q&A in English without panicking or losing your train of thought..and so much more!

On the webinar, I’ll be happy to answer any questions about the program.

📌 Cameras will be off, so feel free to join in your pjs with kids running around in the background
📌 No worries if you can’t join live. I’ll share the recording with everyone who signs up to the Priority List

📅 Tuesday, August 11 (Mountain Day)
🕐 10 a.m., about 30 minutes

If you’re interested to learn more about the new 6-week program, sign up at the link in the comments. No pressure. No obligation 👇👇👇

A dilemma for many women managers and executives in Japan stepping into bigger global business roles is…

How to find the time to develop the skills you need to perform at a new level?

✔ You need to learn how to be more proactive, assertive, and explicit than is normal in Japanese culture

✔ You need to overcome hesitation and be able to organize your thoughts quickly—often in your second language

✔ You need to discover how to look and sound like a leader to gain the respect your level of expertise deserves

None of this is easy. It’s going to take time.

But your days are already packed, right?

That’s a big reason why I’m designing a new 6-week online group program for female leaders to learn and practice how to speak more clearly and confidently in meetings and presentations, so that they can get their message across clearly and make a strong positive impression.

⏰ So what’s the time commitment?

Can you fit it into your demanding schedule? What if you can’t join all the live calls due to work and family commitments popping up?

I’ve thought of that. And that’s why we’ll have a call every week.

🌟 BUT HERE’S WHAT’S IMPORTANT:

You’re NOT expected to attend them ALL. You can still make PLENTY of progress without joining all the live calls. We have ways to make that happen! And you can watch the recordings whenever works for you (no time limit).

📣 SAVE THE DATES!

Aug 11 registration opens
Aug 14 registration closes (or when max 10 places are filled)

Calls are all Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. Japan time for 1 hour on Zoom.
(Think of it as your Saturday Morning Power Hour until the end of September 🥰)

Aug 15 Welcome call 💕
Aug 22 Call 1
Aug 29 Call 2
Sep 5 Call 3
Sep 12 Call 4
Sep 19 Call 5
Sep 26 Call 6

And just to reiterate: you DON’T have to join them all 🙂

This 6-week pilot is a fraction of the normal program pricing, so it’s both time efficient and cost effective.

If this sounds like what you need right now, join the Priority List (with no obligation). You'll receive all the details, so that you can make an informed decision about whether you'd like to join BEFORE registration opens (because places are limited to the first 10 women).

Or if you want to keep it private, you’ll also find a handy chat in the bottom right at the link above to connect with me directly.

I’m human (and I’m in the UK now, as you may have guessed from the Paddington bench), so I may take a little while to respond 😎

Did you know I’m merrily designing a new program for women managers and executives in Japan?

I’ve created a Priority List for women who are interested!

Over the next week or so, I’ll be emailing the superstars on the list with details of the program as well as asking their opinions on what THEY would find most valuable.

That’s because this is a PILOT program. We’ll be testing out as we go to create the BEST possible experience and transformation for each and every participant 🔥

This I know for sure: it’s going to be time-efficient, high-impact, and FUN!

But I also know that some people like to go into a program where EVERYTHING is super clear and decided in advance. If that sounds like you, this program probably isn’t for you.

If instead you’re a woman manager or executive in Japan stepping into a bigger global business role…

🔥 If you want your colleagues and clients to quickly and easily understand your message the way you intend it…
🔥 If you want to make a positive impression and increase your credibility and influence…
🔥 If you want to contribute to your company and create more impact through your work…
🔥 If you want people to recognize your expertise regardless of whether English is your first language…
🔥 If you want to open doors to new opportunities…

Well, this could be just right for you.

I’m looking for women in Japan who want to step up and surprise themselves with what they can do and who they can be.

If you’re curious to know more about how this will happen, I’d love to welcome you onto the Priority List.

You have nothing to lose by signing up at the link below, if it turns out that you don’t love my emails, you can easily unsubscribe anytime 💕

(The pilot will be at a fraction of normal program pricing. But places will be limited. Priority goes to those on the Priority List.)

Thanks for reading and please feel free to share! Happy to answer any questions in the comments or DMs too.

I’ve been in the UK, visiting parents. But I’ve also been working on something new and exciting (a bit like this cake my mum is about to dive into! 🤣).

In my work, a topic that keeps coming up is women managers and executives in Japan struggling to share their opinions and feel heard in global business meetings.

I totally understand why this happens.

As humans, it’s normal to feel nervous speaking up in front of others—heart pounding, sweating, throat going dry, and mind going blank.

Maybe you’ve experienced this?
(😱I know I have!!!)

But many of my clients in Japan are under extra pressure…

For example

1️⃣ It’s harder to get your message across when it’s not in your first language
2️⃣ Because humility is highly valued in Japan, how can you be humble AND assertive?
3️⃣ And then how do you navigate the situation when you’re dealing with a male-dominated environment and the different communication styles often required for Western men versus senior Japanese men???

Crikey, no wonder it’s difficult to speak up!

Fortunately, with my experience and expertise as a bilingual leadership & communication coach in Japan, this is something I can definitely help with.

⏰ Oh… but wait. Let’s not forget that, due to all the responsibilities both inside and outside work, time is a BIG concern for many women.

So, for the first time, I’m creating a NEW 6-WEEK PROGRAM especially designed to help busy women in business speak up more clearly and confidently as they step into bigger global roles 🎉

I want to help women to be able to share their opinions and feel heard, while staying true to themselves 💕

If you’re a woman in business and even a little bit curious about how this new program could help you, I encourage you to sign up to the Priority List at the link in the comments to be among the first to know the details of the pilot program.

IMPORTANT: Because this is a pilot program, it will be at a fraction of the full pricing. But the number of places will be limited. That’s why, if you’re at all interested, I recommend getting on the Priority List with no obligation (see link below).

Thanks for reading and please feel free to share! Happy to answer any questions in the comments too.

Wahooooooo! Today, I’m celebrating 10 years since I wrote (Eigo no Shigoto-jutsu), published by Shogakukan 🎉

I know many of you have the physical book or Kindle and have told me how practical it is for workplace communication, regardless of language.

From April 14 (assuming all goes to plan!), I’ll be sharing a short series focusing on each of the five chapters:

1️⃣ Listening & Questioning
2️⃣ Presentation Skills
3️⃣ Conference Calls
4️⃣ Meeting Facilitation
5️⃣ Workplace Conflict

And here’s why it's a raaaaaaather ambitious project:
I plan to share this in all these ways…

🔥 YouTube videos (10-15 mins each)
🔥 The Sasuga! Podcast (Season 2 is finally coming!!!)
🔥 The Sasuga! blog — both English and Japanese
🔥 LinkedIn articles
🔥 The Sasuga! Tips For You twice-monthly bilingual newsletter (link in comments, if you'd like to join our readership)

So you can enjoy watching, listening, or reading in your preferred language.

I hope you’ll enjoy this and maybe participate by liking, commenting, and sharing with friends or colleagues for a positive ripple effect!

And I’d like to give a big shoutout to Tia Haygood for the fab photos in the book and at the 2016 Kinokuniya talk event and book signing 💕

Of these 5 communication topics, which is most important for you in business today?

(English follows)

This morning, I was reflecting on something…

A little pressure can motivate us—
but too much pressure can make us stuck or miss things.

And I realized the original December 31 Sasubukuro deadline was probably creating too much pressure…

…for many women who’ve been busy finishing year-end work, spending time with family, and finally getting some rest.

…and also for me as I noticed my mind drifting away from precious time with loved ones in the UK, wondering, “Are people seeing the messages? Is it reaching the right women?”

I genuinely want the Sasubukuro to feel supportive, not stressful.

So I’ve extended the deadline to January 12 🎉

That way, whether you’re reading this now or early in the New Year, you can have a little look, in your own time, and see whether it feels like a gift you’d like to give yourself 💕

(And I can devote more time to fun things like decorating gingerbread people 🤣)

OMG, I’ve been having sooooooo much fun with the Sasuga! Elves and our super generous collaborators to bring the Sasuga!...
