On Wednesday, Mandy had a great group for her 'Coffee & Culture in Kiyosumi Shirakawa' excursion.

This photo was taken at lovely Kiyosumi Garden. The excursion also stopped at the Fukugawa Edo Museum, which is a real 'hidden treasure' of Tokyo. Throw in some outstanding coffee shops and you've got plenty of reasons to explore this quiet corner of the city!

FB Friends... See Lean Management (5S specifically) IN ACTION in JAPAN where it all began!

Time to book your trip to Japan in May! Not only is airfare at its lowest ($650 round trip!) BUT you can also register for an Alpine excursion that is the perfect blend of business and leisure!

I'm personally very excited about this excursion and you can even try to get your management to expense this one! Every time I visit this historical town (Ashikaga City) it is truly a jaw-dropping experience to see these companies implement 5S to an incredible level of perfection and discipline... Oh, and the winery visit - breathtaking! 🍷

Led by: Toshiko Kawanami and Katie Anderson, Alpine International Consultants

Don't miss this incredible one-day excursion to the beautiful countryside town of Ashikaga that both business people and tourists will thoroughly enjoy and learn from!

Discover unique aspects of Japanese business culture and how the entire town of Ashikaga uses '5S' workplace organization methodology to engage their employees. You will visit two Japanese companies for behind-the-scenes access to their factories and hear from the local Chamber of Commerce to learn how Ashikaga became known as the "5S Mecca" of the world. Learn how "Lean" principles, including 5S, were originally developed in Japan (by Toyota) and are now an internationally recognized approach to continuous improvement.

Stop along the way for lunch at a very special local winery. Take in the views of Ashikaga's beautiful spring flowers and countryside while enjoying fresh local delicacies and a glass of wine. In the afternoon, visit two famous cultural heritage sites in Ashikaga. Go inside the first school in Japan founded 600 years ago that has applied for World Heritage listing. Enjoy the beauty of a famous temple that is resplendent with spring flowers.

Return to Tokyo in time for dinner - or extend your trip for a weekend away from the city. You won't want to miss this special opportunity to visit Ashikaga!

Join us for a leisurely walk along the Meguro River, which is lined with lovely cherry trees that hopefully will be in full bloom! Along the way learn about gardens, parks and eateries in the area. EXPLORING THE MITAKE VALLEY (Sign-up begins March 15)
If you think Tokyo is all cars and concrete, this tour will completely change your perceptions of the capital! Join us as we head to the Mitake River Valley, still a part of Tokyo but worlds away in appearance. We’ll walk along the river path, visit two museums (one with a top-rated rock garden) and sample some local sake while relaxing along the riverside. With any luck, we’ll also catch the last of the blooming cherry blossoms.

3) Friday, May 13 *REGISTRATION BEGAN EARLY!
BEST OF ASHIKAGA - BUSINESS & CULTURAL EXCURSION
*Registration for this special excursion begins FRIDAY, March 11.

Explore culturally significant local sites, including the oldest school in Japan and one of its historic temples. Stop along the way for lunch at a very special local winery. This is an excursion that both business people and tourists will thoroughly enjoy and learn from.
