Today, July 25th, is "Shaved Ice Day"🍧
The date originates from a Japanese wordplay for "Natsu-go-ori" (Summer Ice), an old name for this chilled treat.
It also commemorates the day in 1933 when a record-high temperature was recorded in Japan, making it the perfect day to enjoy a cold dessert.

During the peak of the summer heat, our buffet restaurant Chef's Live Kitchen is offering a special "Shaved Ice Parfait" for a limited time as part of the "Peach & Melon Meets Häagen-Dazs Sweets Buffet".
Guests can enjoy a combination of fluffy shaved ice over creamy Hokkaido milk soft-serve, topped with refreshing peach or melon sauces.

It commemorates the 1977 launch of "Himawari-1," Japan's first geostationary meteorological satellite.

July 7th is Tanabata & Yukata Day 🎋👘
July 7th marks "Tanabata", also known as the "Star Festival".
It celebrates the annual reunion of the deities Orihime (the Weaver Star) and Hikoboshi (the Cowherd Star), who are separated by the Milky Way and granted a meeting only once a year on this magical night.
Following a cherished Japanese tradition, people write their heartfelt wishes on colorful paper strips called "Tanzaku" and hang them on bamboo branches, hoping their dreams will reach the heavens.

The date is also designated as "Yukata Day", established in 1981 to encourage people to rediscover the cooling elegance of the yukata—traditional summer attire that perfectly suits the festive spirit of Tanabata👘🎐

Nearby in the Shiba area, Zojoji Temple will host the enchanting "Washi Candle Night" on July 6th and 7th.
Thousands of hand-crafted Japanese paper candles are lit to create a stunning "Milky Way on Earth" within the temple grounds.
