Happiest Birthday to Coach Anj of GRIT Educator Academy♥️✨

Everything started with Coach Anj attending one of our webinars — “The Non-Sugar-Coated Reality of ALT Life in Japan.”

From that one webinar, I instantly felt that this woman had the potential to work with me.

And for once… I was right. 😅

As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that one of the hardest parts of building a business is choosing the right people to grow with you.

You’re not simply looking for someone who can complete tasks.
You’re looking for someone who can believe in the vision, grow with the business, be patient through the uncertainties, and stay with you while you’re still figuring things out along the way.

And I’ve made many mistakes when it comes to hiring people.

But over the years, I’ve also realized something:

People come into our lives depending on the season we are in.

Some stay. Some leave. Some teach us difficult lessons. And some unexpectedly become part of the journey for much longer than we imagined.

Maybe the people we meet are exactly the people we need in that particular season — whether they are meant to help us grow, challenge us, teach us, or walk beside us.

Coach Anj has been part of this journey since 2024, starting with Sparta Batch 2. 🥹

Since then, I have witnessed her dedication, patience, and genuine love for our Spartan trainees.

It is rare to find someone with such a pure heart who genuinely celebrates other people’s progress and pours so much effort into helping aspiring teachers achieve their dream of becoming English teachers in Japan.

Coach Anj, thank you for believing in what we are building. Thank you for your patience with me through all the changes, experiments, mistakes, and growing pains that come with building something from the ground up.

Most importantly, thank you for loving and supporting our Spartans. 🛡️

Something people may not know about me…

I’m actually not as outspoken or sociable in person as you might think from watching my videos or seeing me during my coachings. 😅

When I’m working, teaching, or coaching, I give it my all. I speak with passion, energy, and dedication because I genuinely love what I do.

But outside of work?

I’m usually the quiet one. 🤍
I rarely share much about myself.
I’m more comfortable listening than talking.

And maybe that’s why sometimes, I just enjoy being around someone who loves to talk,
someone I can simply listen to, laugh with, and enjoy the moment without having to be “Coach Kate” or the energetic version of myself people usually see online.

Sometimes the best kind of friendship is finding someone whose energy naturally complements yours. 🫶

And this friendship is extra special to me because our story goes way back. She once worked with me at my English school, and she was also one of the trainees I had the opportunity to train when our partner company was dispatching English teachers.

Seeing where she is today makes me genuinely proud. 🤍

From being one of the teachers I once trained to becoming an interpreter and a licensed immigration application intermediary (取次者 / toritsugi-sha)—I’ve had the privilege of watching her grow, work hard, and become the woman she is today.

Life changes, careers evolve, and we all grow in different directions but some friendships remain. And it’s beautiful when you get to sit across from someone and realize just how far you’ve both come. 🥹

Proud of you, Mei. Keep growing and becoming. 🤍

Here’s to rainy days, spontaneous staycations, endless kwentuhan, old memories, new chapters, and friendships that grow with us. 🇯🇵
