There were many nights when I sat quietly and wondered…
“Am I the only one feeling this way?”
With all the changes happening in Japan today, the rising costs, the pressures of work, the challenges of raising a family far from home, and the silent battles many foreigners face behind closed doors,
I found myself writing this book.
Not because I had all the answers.
But because I was searching for them too.
Many people see the surface of my life. An English teacher. A business owner. A mother of three. A woman married to a Japanese husband. Someone who has lived in Japan for years.
Yet what many don’t see are the moments of loneliness.
The days I questioned if I truly belonged.
The seasons of financial struggles, cultural misunderstandings, identity crises, homesickness, disappointments, and the silent pressure of trying to build a life in a country that is not your birthplace.
Wakarimash*ta was born from those moments.
This is not a book about how perfect life in Japan is.
Neither is it a book designed to discourage dreams.
It is a book about truth.
The truth behind the Instagram photos.
The truth behind the visas, jobs, marriages, businesses, and opportunities.
The truth about what it really takes to stay, survive, adapt, and eventually thrive.
If you have ever felt lonely in Japan…
If you have ever questioned your decisions…
If you have ever felt like nobody truly understood your journey…
This book is for you.
And if you are dreaming of coming to Japan someday, this book may save you years of unrealistic expectations and help you prepare for the reality that awaits.
My hope is simple:
That somewhere between these pages, you will realize that you are not alone.
