Instead of correcting the drawings to look like real animals, he preserves his son’s unique shapes and proportions, turning his childhood artwork into charming, lifelike characters that capture the imagination behind every sketch.

takes us inside this open-space pavilion at the Verbeke foundation in Kemzeke, Belgium 🇧🇪 constructed entirely from recycled windows and doors, the pavilion was created by artist Jason Van Der Woude between 2009 and 2010. The structure was built using leftover renovation materials from a project in Breda, The Netherlands 🇳🇱

This artist takes metal sculpture to an entirely different level by turning his creations into working kinetic sculptures. Using hand-cranked mechanisms built directly into the piece, his metal figures, animals, & objects actually come to life through carefully designed movements, transforming solid metal into something that feels almost alive. From one precise viewpoint, Thomas Deininger’s sculptures form remarkably detailed birds and animals. Move to the side and the entire image collapses into a chaotic structure of plastic fragments, broken toys and discarded objects.

He creates these anamorphic illusions by arranging objects at different depths, carefully aligning their shapes and colors through one-point perspective. From the intended position, everything connects. Up close or from the side, the illusion reveals what it was hiding all along.

By transforming discarded materials into images of the wildlife threatened by pollution, Deininger makes the materials part of the message, not just the method.
