🎉To the 2nd Round in the ELTons Innovation Awards!!🎉
執筆に参加した英語の教科書が国際コンペ2次審査へ!
So delighted to share that the textbook I participated in, "Forward Mode: English for Fashion Students" published by Nan'undo, has progressed to the second round in the ELTons Innovation Awards hosted by the British Council.
This textbook, a collaborative effort, integrates the robust teaching principles and English teaching methodologies honed in the San Fransisco State University MATESOL program with each author's diverse teaching experiences, ranging from university-level English and curriculum development to Fashion ESP, remedial education, and both ESL and EFL settings.
We were fortunate to work with Kim S. Collins, a TESOLer who also worked in the UK, US, and Japanese fashion industry and teaches ESP fashion at Japanese fashion colleges and ESOL at Tokyo University of the Arts.
With her extensive expertise in the fashion industry, we crafted a versatile textbook suitable for both specific English for Fashion Purposes and General English. Utilizing the 'Learners' Lives as Curriculum' approach, we incorporated the real-life experiences, role models, job-hunting stories, and personal values of a diverse group of contributors—students, international students, educators, and fashion designers—into the Opening Story.
This integration provides students with the opportunity to engage with and analyze "the real world" outside the classroom in a meaningful way.
The textbook also covers the topics trending in contemporary society such as sustainability and diversity; it includes information on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the innovative use of the nonbinary singular they/them in English, enhancing inclusivity in language learning.
