Poor rural people need access to a wide variety of financial services, not just credit. They need a range of options including credit, savings, money transfer facilities and insurance. Poor people, even very poor people, need to save. They need secure, convenient deposit services that allow for small balances, small transactions and easy access to funds. Traditional, non-formal saving systems – such as tucking cash under the mattress, buying animals, joining village savings circles, or giving money to neighbours for safekeeping – often have hidden costs and risks. For example, cash hidden under a mattress or given to a neighbour can be stolen; an animal can get sick or die. By having access to safe and flexible monetary saving instruments, poor rural people can plan for their future, provide a cushion against shocks and take advantage of economic opportunities as they occur

Financial services play a critical role in reducing poverty. Permanent access to financial services can help poor people take control of their lives. Good management of very small assets can be crucial to the survival of poor people who live in precarious conditions, threatened by lack of income, shelter and food. To overcome poverty, they need to be able to borrow, save, invest and protect their families against risk. Direct access to financial services can allow very poor people to progress from hand-to-mouth survival to planning for the future, acquiring physical and financial assets, investing in better nutrition, health and education.

Building robust and inclusive financial prudence needs help integrate women into all domains of society, not only as beneficiaries of auspicious and result-oriented equal opportunities, but as influential shapers of social, cultural, economic, and human development.

One of the most important things I have learned is that businesses don't fail, entrepreneurs give up. Now sometimes, giving up is the right decision. But usually you just need to dig in and figure out how to make things better. Remember: Every day is a new opportunity to get up and do it better than yesterday

Access to finance is often cited as a main constraint to the growth of female-owned enterprises. The CPV Poll shows significant differences in access to financial services for women- and men-owned businesses in developing countries. On average, women have less access to basic banking services such as checking and saving accounts. As a result, many female entrepreneurs rely on their own savings, loans from family and friends, or micro-loans to finance their business needs. However, the small size and short-term nature of micro-loans do not allow women borrowers to make long-term investments in their businesses.

Every morning you have two options to choose one. One to continue with your dreams other to get up and work hard to make them real. Good Morning!! And have a greater day

Rural women increasingly run their own enterprises, yet their socio-economic contributions and entrepreneurial potential
remain largely unrecognized and untapped. They are concentrated in informal, micro-size, low productivity and low-return
activities hence enabling and gender responsive policies, services and business environments which are crucial to stimulate the start
up and upgrading of women’s businesses and thereby help generate decent and productive work hence achieve gender equality,
reduce poverty and ensure stronger economies and societies

Microcredit is about giving hope. When you’re talking about making loans to women whose income is less than Ksh100 a day, you can easily make the leap to see what a microloan can make possible. The women I’ve met in Busia county are so resourceful, and it’s just amazing to see how, with their courage and diligence, they create small businesses with such tiny amounts of money. These women work so hard, and they manage to pay off their loans, and the first thing they do is educate and feed their kids. It’s amazing that the world is not investing more in this resource.
