RAISING CHILDREN WITH WISDOM, POWER, CHARACTER & DESTINY*
A Foundational Charge to Parents
By Apostle John Oladeji
*π₯ INTRODUCTION: CHILDREN ARE NOT JUST BORN THEY ARE BUILT*
Children are not raised accidentally.
They are shaped intentionally.
A child left to chance may become a victim of culture, peer pressure, confusion, and corruption.
But a child raised with wisdom, discipline, spiritual depth, and righteous standards becomes a weapon in Godβs hand and a light in a dark generation.
Many parents provide food, clothes, and school fees, yet fail to build:
β‘οΈ Character
β‘οΈ Wisdom
β‘οΈ Conviction
β‘οΈ Discipline
β‘οΈ Spiritual consciousness
β‘οΈ Destiny awareness
πA child can be educated and still be destroyed.
πA child can be talented and still lack direction.
πA child can be exposed and still lack values.
The greatest inheritance is not money alone it is:
β‘οΈ Wisdom
β‘οΈ Godliness
β‘οΈ Discipline
β‘οΈ Identity
β‘οΈ Spiritual heritage
β‘οΈ Moral excellence
The assignment of parenting is beyond survival.
It is destiny formation.
π₯ *1. BUILD THE FOUNDATION EARLY*
π Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)
_βTrain up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.β_
β
Children are easiest to shape when they are young.
β
What enters them early becomes difficult to remove later.
The foundation years determine:
β‘οΈ Speech patterns
β‘οΈ Emotional intelligence
β‘οΈ Moral sensitivity
β‘οΈ Spiritual consciousness
β‘οΈ Behavioral culture
β‘οΈ Confidence and identity
A child without foundation becomes vulnerable to:
β Rebellion
β Peer pressure
β Addiction
β Moral collapse
β Spiritual emptiness
π₯ *BASIC FOUNDATIONS EVERY CHILD MUST RECEIVE*
β
Teach Them:
π Respect
π Truthfulness
π Cleanliness
π Honor
π Kindness
π Gratitude
π Discipline
π Prayer
π Responsibility
π Self-control
β Never Normalize:
π΄ββ οΈ Lying
π΄ββ οΈ Rudeness
π΄ββ οΈ Laziness
π΄ββ οΈ Insults
π΄ββ οΈ Stealing
π΄ββ οΈ Manipulation
π΄ββ οΈ Vulgar speech
π΄ββ οΈ Disobedience
π΄ββ οΈ Mockery of elders
π΄ββ οΈ Pride
What parents clap for in private may later become societyβs problem in public.
*π₯ 2. SPIRITUAL IMPACT: CHILDREN MUST KNOW GOD*
A child trained only intellectually but not spiritually is incomplete.
π Deuteronomy 6:6β7 (NKJV)
_βAnd these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your childrenβ¦β_
God never intended spiritual training to be outsourced completely.
The home is the first church.
Parents are the first pastors.
π₯ *WHAT CHILDREN MUST LEARN SPIRITUALLY*
β¨ Teach Them:
β
How to pray
β
How to worship
β
How to read Scripture
β
How to fear God
β
How to discern right from wrong
β
How to hear godly counsel
β
How to love righteousness
Do not wait until destruction comes before introducing spirituality.
A child who grows in God develops:
π Conviction
π Purity
π Discernment
π Wisdom
π Inner strength
π Biblical Examples
πΉ Hannah & Samuel
Hannah raised Samuel in consecration before God.
πΉ Lois & Eunice
Lois and Eunice transmitted sincere faith into Timothy.
πΉ Abraham
God testified concerning Abraham:
π Genesis 18:19 (NKJV)
_βFor I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after himβ¦β_
He led his household intentionally.
*π₯ 3. TEACH WISDOM DAILY NOT OCCASIONALLY*
Wisdom is not transferred once.
It is cultivated daily.
π Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV)
_βWisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom.β_
A wise child avoids unnecessary destruction.
π₯ PRACTICAL WISDOM PARENTS MUST TEACH
π Relationship Wisdom
π Not every friend is healthy
π Character matters more than appearance
π Avoid bad company
π 1 Corinthians 15:33
_βEvil company corrupts good habits.β_
π Financial Wisdom
Teach them:
β
Saving
β
Contentment
β
Honesty
β
Avoiding wastefulness
β
Value of hard work
Children must learn:
Money is a tool not a god.
π Speech Wisdom
Teach them:
β
Tone matters
β
Words can heal or destroy
β
Silence can be wisdom
π Proverbs 18:21
_βDeath and life are in the power of the tongueβ¦β_
π Time Wisdom
Teach them:
β
Punctuality
β
Focus
β
Productivity
β
Avoiding laziness
*π₯ 4. CHARACTER FORMATION IS NON-NEGOTIABLE*
β‘οΈTalent without character becomes danger.
β‘οΈPower without character becomes corruption.
β‘οΈSuccess without character becomes destruction.
God is more interested in who a child becomes than what a child achieves.
π₯ *CHARACTER TRAITS EVERY CHILD MUST DEVELOP*
β΄οΈMUST HAVE
β
Integrity
β
Humility
β
Honor
β
Compassion
β
Obedience
β
Accountability
β
Patience
β
Courage
β
Self-control
β MUST NEVER BE TOLERATED
π΄ββ οΈ Dishonesty
π΄ββ οΈ Entitlement
π΄ββ οΈ Disrespect
π΄ββ οΈ Violence
π΄ββ οΈ Arrogance
π΄ββ οΈ Manipulation
π΄ββ οΈ Bitterness
π΄ββ οΈ Vulgarity
π΄ββ οΈ Addiction to pleasure
Correction is not hatred.
Discipline is proof of love.
π Hebrews 12:6
_βFor whom the Lord loves He chastensβ¦β_
*π₯ 5. LIVE BY STANDARD CHILDREN COPY MORE THAN THEY LISTEN*
βChildren rarely become what parents say.
πThey often become what parents consistently do.
πIf parents lie freely, children learn hypocrisy.
πIf parents dishonor people, children absorb arrogance.
πIf parents are prayerless, children become spiritually empty.
π Matthew 5:16
_βLet your light so shine before menβ¦β_
Parents must model:
β
Integrity
β
Prayer
β
Purity
β
Respect
β
Discipline
β
Love
β
Excellence
A house without standards eventually becomes chaotic.
*π₯ 6. SHAPING DESTINY CONSCIOUSNESS*
Children must know they were born for purpose.
A child without destiny awareness can waste years in confusion.
π₯ WHAT IS DESTINY?
Destiny is:
π Godβs ordained purpose for a life
π The reason for existence
π Divine assignment wrapped inside a human vessel
Children must learn:
_βYou were not born accidentally.β_
π Jeremiah 1:5
_βBefore I formed you in the womb I knew youβ¦β_
*π₯ HOW TO SHAPE A CHILDβS DESTINY*
β¨ Help Them Discover:
β
Their gifts
β
Their strengths
β
Their passions
β
Their uniqueness
β¨ Speak Life Into Them
Never use destructive words carelessly.
Some children are broken more by words than by circumstances.
β Avoid:
βYou are useless.β
βYou can never succeed.β
βYou are a failure.β
β
Speak:
βYou carry greatness.β
βYou are disciplined.β
βYou will fulfill purpose.β
βGodβs hand is upon you.β
*π₯ 7. CREATE A GODLY ATMOSPHERE AT HOME*
Atmospheres shape souls.
A home full of:
π΄ββ οΈ shouting,
π΄ββ οΈ insults,
π΄ββ οΈ chaos,
π΄ββ οΈ immorality,
π΄ββ οΈ bitterness,
π΄ββ οΈ and violence
can damage children deeply.
But a home filled with:
β
prayer,
β
peace,
β
wisdom,
β
order,
β
love,
β
and honor
produces stability.
*π₯ 8. THE DANGER OF ABSENT PARENTING*
Many children today are being raised by:
β social media,
β ungodly trends,
β internet culture,
β celebrities,
β and peer influence.
Parents must be emotionally present.
Not just providers builders.
π₯ FINAL CHARGE TO PARENTS
Parenting is ministry.
Raising children is kingdom work.
The goal is not merely to raise rich children.
The goal is to raise:
β
wise children,
β
disciplined children,
β
spiritually sound children,
β
responsible children,
β
impactful children,
β
destiny-conscious children.
π Psalm 127:3
_βBehold, children are a heritage from the Lordβ¦β_
Children are seeds of tomorrow.
Whatever is planted into them today will speak loudly in future generations.
π₯ PROPHETIC DECLARATION FOR PARENTS
May your children:
β΄οΈ walk in wisdom,
β΄οΈ carry divine character,
β΄οΈ fear God genuinely,
β΄οΈ reject corruption,
β΄οΈ fulfill destiny,
β΄οΈ become lights in their generation,
β΄οΈ and bring honor to your household in Jesusβ Name.
Amen.
