My life hasn't always been picture-perfect. I left home at seventeen, hoping for happiness and love, but instead, I found myself in a nightmare. The man I thought I knew turned out to be a stranger who physically and emotionally abused me. I was constantly told I was ugly and unlovable, called names no woman should ever hear. I became a young black mom too ashamed to hold my head high. I stayed in that toxic relationship for all the wrong reasons.
It took me a long time to realize I deserved better for myself and my daughter. I stopped feeling sorry for myself, put a plan in motion, and worked hard to put myself through radiology school. I told myself, "You can do this," and I did. I left and never looked back.
Two years later, I met my husband, Mark at this platform , and my life changed forever. He showed me what real love looks and feels like. He worked tirelessly to gain my trust, and no matter how much I tried to push him away, he never gave up on me. We've been married for 2 years now.
Our advice: Never give up on love. There's someone out there for you. God sent me the husband I prayed for.
