Through strategic , CIDE Group is working with communities to strengthen resilience and build more sustainable food systems. We equip vulnerable communities with weather-smart techniques, nutrition-sensitive farming practices and practical tools to access markets and diversify their incomes.

Our programmes support families to move from towards lasting self-sufficiency, while promoting agricultural practices that are sustainable, inclusive and responsive to a changing .

We are championing solutions across five interconnected areas:
🌱 Nature and biodiversity
♻️ Climate mitigation
🌾 Food, nutrition and security
🌍 Climate adaptation and resilience
🤝 Equity and sustainable livelihoods

At CIDE Group, we believe Africa has the knowledge, talent and potential to shape its own food systems transformation. Africa can lead, and must lead the transition towards weather-resilient, inclusive and accountable food systems.

Through African-led partnerships, local knowledge and evidence-driven solutions, we are working to turn this potential into lasting impact.

This World , the global campaign reminds us that every humanitarian worker killed is more than a number. Each life lost should compel us to ask difficult questions: How many more aid workers must die? How many more hospitals must cease functioning before expressions of concern are matched by meaningful accountability?

Protecting workers and civilians requires , , and consequences when international humanitarian law is violated.

At CIDE Group, we believe that acting for humanity means not only showing up, but ensuring that what we do delivers meaningful and lasting results.

On this International , we celebrate the creativity, leadership and potential of young people.

This year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reminds us that while young people’s lives are shaped by different national and local realities, their aspirations are remarkably similar.

Across countries and communities, young people seek dignity, opportunity, meaningful participation, decent work, quality education, and a sustainable future.

At CIDE Group, we believe that meaningful youth engagement is not just about creating opportunities for young people; it is about creating space for their voices, leadership and solutions to shape a better future.

By working with young people as equal partners, rather than simply as beneficiaries, we can harness their energy, ideas and expertise to address some of the defining challenges of our time.

🌍 As biodiversity leaders gather in Nairobi this week for the pre-COP17 consultations, one message is becoming increasingly clear: the world must accelerate action to halt loss.

Discussions are being informed by the draft United Nations report, "The State of Biodiversity Action: Global Report on Collective Progress in the Implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework", which finds that the world is currently off track on 22 of its 23 global biodiversity targets.

One of the most pressing concerns is Target 3 (30x30), the commitment to effectively conserve 30% of the world's land and sea by 2030. The report suggests that the challenge is not a lack of ambition, but persistent gaps in financing, local implementation capacity and governance, particularly in community-managed landscapes where biodiversity conservation is most needed.

CIDE Group believes Africa's biodiversity future depends on translating global commitments into locally led action through stronger , , climate-smart agriculture, innovative financing and meaningful partnerships with communities.

As we look ahead to in , the conversations taking place in provide an important opportunity to shape practical, scalable solutions that protect biodiversity while strengthening livelihoods and climate resilience across the continent.

Nature has some of the most powerful solutions to the when innovation works with ecosystems, not against them.

This World Economic Forum video highlights how seed balls are transforming landscape restoration in . Each charcoal-coated ball protects an indigenous tree seed with a blend of biochar, clay and nutrients until rainfall provides the right conditions for germination. The result is a simple, cost-effective and scalable approach to restoring degraded landscapes while improving tree survival rates.

At CIDE Group, we are passionate about advancing practical, science-driven and community-led environmental solutions that strengthen climate resilience and restore ecosystems. Our work spans nature-based solutions, climate-smart agriculture, landscape restoration, environmental assessments, circular economy programming and climate-resilient .

We partner with governments, development agencies, communities and the private sector to design and implement programmes that deliver measurable environmental and social impact.

Innovations such as demonstrate that restoring ecosystems does not always require complex technology. When combined with strong community ownership, digital monitoring, sustainable financing and evidence-based programme design, these approaches can accelerate progress towards national restoration commitments, conservation and climate adaptation.

As Africa pursues ambitious restoration targets, the opportunity lies not only in planting more trees but in building resilient landscapes, strengthening local livelihoods and creating sustainable green economies for future generations.

Stories should never exploit. They should empower.

Ethical is not just a good communication practice, but a commitment to dignity, respect, and accountability.

At CIDE Group, we believe the people whose stories we tell are not beneficiaries to be showcased; they are experts in their own lived experiences. Their voices, aspirations, and agency should always come first.

Ethical storytelling means:
✅ Prioritising informed consent and trust
✅ Protecting dignity and safeguarding participants
✅ Challenging stereotypes and harmful narratives
✅ Recognising historical, cultural, and power dynamics
✅ Highlighting resilience, innovation, and human potential, not just vulnerability.

We help organisations transform evidence and lived experiences into authentic stories that strengthen , , , and public engagement without compromising the people behind them.

Our support includes:
📖 Ethical storytelling and knowledge products
📢 Campaign content and public engagement
🤝 Communication for Development (C4D) and behaviour change
🛡️ Safeguarding-aligned communication practices
📷 Documentation, photography, videography, and programme visibility

Africa sits at the centre of the global climate and development agenda, but lasting impact depends on solutions that communities can adopt, own, and sustain.

At CIDE Group, we work with communities, governments, development partners, donors, investors, and the private sector to design and implement programmes that strengthen , accelerate the transition to , and restore degraded landscapes.

One of the proven, low-cost approaches we champion is Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration ( ), a simple yet transformative technique that enables to regenerate from existing stumps and root systems.

Without expensive equipment or external inputs, FMNR helps restore degraded land, improve production, strengthen resilience, increase biodiversity, and create sustainable .

By translating environmental science and global policy into practical, locally viable solutions, we help communities protect natural assets while unlocking green economic opportunities.

We celebrate the pioneering work of Tony Rinaudo, widely recognised as the father of FMNR, whose innovation has restored millions of hectares of land across Africa and beyond.

Together, we can scale nature-based solutions that work for people, for livelihoods, and for the planet.
