Today, Kipchimchim Group joined the Tea Board of Kenya and other tea stakeholders at the Momul Tea Factory to commemorate International Tea Day under the theme, “Fostering Growth and Inclusion.” 🍃☕

Led by the CEO of the Tea Board of Kenya, Mr W***y K. Mutai, flanked by the CS Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Mutahi Kagwe, PS State Department for Agriculture, Dr Kiprono Rono, and Senator for Kericho County, Mr Aaron Cheruiyot, the event highlighted the important role the tea sector continues to play in supporting livelihoods, empowering communities, and strengthening Kenya’s economy through sustainable agriculture and global trade.

As Kenya continues to lead as the world’s top exporter of black tea, Mutahi Kagwe emphasized the strength behind the industry, stating:

“Kenya’s position as the world’s leading exporter of black tea is a testimony to the resilience and hard work of our farmers — sustaining livelihoods and strengthening our economy.”

At Kipchimchim Group, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting tea farmers through sustainability, inclusion, innovation, and initiatives that continue to improve livelihoods across our tea-growing communities. ✨

Kipchimchim Group continues to strengthen rural road infrastructure to ensure tea leaves and sugarcane from our farmers reach our factories on time while still fresh and of high quality. 🌱🚜

Improved access roads across our tea and sugarcane growing regions are enhancing transportation efficiency, reducing delays, and supporting the delivery of premium quality tea and sugar products to the market.

Through the support of our Agriculture, Transport and Roads teams, farmers can now access factories more easily, minimize post-harvest losses, and improve productivity — creating lasting impact for both farming communities and the wider agricultural value chain.

At Kipchimchim Group, investing in infrastructure is investing in quality, farmers, and sustainable growth.

Strengthening Trade Links in Kenya’s Orthodox Tea Sector.

Kenya’s Orthodox tea sector continues to gain traction in Europe following a high-level visit by a delegation of German tea buyers. Organized by the German Tea & Herbal Association with support from the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) and the Tea Board of Kenya (TBK), the engagement signals growing international confidence in Kenyan-made Orthodox tea.

The visit focused on strengthening direct trade linkages, expanding premium market access, and enhancing value addition to secure improved returns for tea farmers.

The delegation toured Sangalo Orthodox Tea Factory under the leadership of Kipchimchim Group Chairman Mr. Alfred Soi and Managing Director Mr. Bernard Soi, flanked by members of the management team, gaining first-hand insight into Orthodox tea processing and participating in a curated tasting session.

The program concluded with targeted trade and partnership engagements between buyers and independent producers, aligning on quality expectations, market opportunities, and sustainable long-term collaboration a key outcome of the visit.
