For those who used to listen to music on audio CDs… do you ever wonder what happened to the **quality of music** today?

A standard CD like this could hold **700 MB**, which equals about **80 minutes of high-quality audio**. Because the music was stored in full digital quality (not heavily compressed), most albums only had **10–15 songs**. The **52x speed** written on the disc simply referred to how fast the CD could be written or read.

Later formats like MP3 made music files much smaller so thousands of songs could fit on a device or be streamed on apps like Spotify or YouTube Music. The downside is that compression removed some of the richness and detail from the sound.

Technology made music easier to access, but qualty has been compromised
