Gusii Ninche

Gusii Ninche Gusii Ninche is a cross cultural platform for the Gusii and Kuria people of kenya. The Tribe is referred to as Gusii or historically as Kosova.

This is a Social and Educational platform for the Gusii community whose origin is from the Congo - Zaire basins, and who currently reside on the present day Gusii - highlands in South Western Kenya. The Gusii or kosova border the Maasai,Luo, kipsigis, Kuria and Nandi, which also explains the hostility of the community and temperament (being referred to as being emotionally labile)having been surro

unded by hostilic Nilotic communities and they themselves being a Bantu speaking community. Unlike other areas of kenya the Gusii community were never alienated from the lands and mounted a very strong armed resistance against the Imperial British rule. This was due to the warriorship organization of the Gusii homesteads which was always Among other houses made up of “Ebisarate” where the young warriors lived protecting the cattle pens against any raids. The Gusii community defensive mantle is the now so banned group called the chinkororo which can be translated to mean “ we will rain on you”. Theirs is a solemn oath to protect the Gusii community from any external agression from generation to generations. Other organised groups though different from the chinkororo in their functioning include the Amachuma ( men of steel), sungusungu ( diziness) and now more recently chiboyz ( the boys) which comprises of well organised youth groups all across the Gusii region.
