In 1979, SERGE GAINSBOURG, French musician, recorded " LA MARSEILLAISE "; Lyrics of the french national anthem, on reggae music, recorded in JAMAICA, with THE I-THREES and SLY & ROBBIE.
Certain French conservatives didn't like that "the sacred anthem of the Nation was sung to black music": Reggae !...
"It's a scandal, how dare he do that ?"
SERGE GAINSBOURG answered :
-"The french national anthem is a revolutionary song; and Reggae is revolutionary music..."
