This International Youth Day, we celebrate the young people already transforming the way we produce, process, distribute and consume food. From farms to food labs, from agribusiness to climate action, young people are bringing fresh ideas, technology, creativity and ambition to the transformation of our agrifood systems.
Across Africa and beyond, young people are:
Building climate smart farms.
Developing new agricultural technologies.
Creating jobs and agribusinesses.
Championing sustainable food systems.
Using digital tools to connect farmers, markets and consumers.
Bringing new voices into conversations about the future of food.
But potential needs an enabling environment.
Young people need access to land, finance, skills, markets, technology, mentorship and meaningful opportunities to participate in decision-making.
If we want food systems that are more sustainable, inclusive and resilient, young people must not only have a seat at the table they must help shape the table.
The future of food is being built today. And youth are building it.
