Safety in remote drone landings and proximity flights will be crucial in success of BVLOS and EVLOS operations. Swift Lab is pioneering AI based object detection in order to help autonomous navigation and collision in key phases of flight e.g., Return to Home and Landing.
This will also enable our delivery drones to classify hazards and autonomously avoid people, infrastructure, buildings, trees etc when doing emergency landings.
The video below shows our first inference scores in our machine learning model, and will only improve as we collect more flight data daily.

We are beyond excited to have won at the Africa IoT and AI challenge. Swift Lab has developed smart drone systems to increase safety and reliability of drone operations. The competitions which were held at Dubai brought together innovative startups from Kenya, Uganda, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Nigeria.
Swift Lab had previously won the IoT and AI challenge during the Kenyan competitions which qualified the team to proceed to the regionals.
Swift Lab is committed to innovating and offering solutions that impact our communities.

Our C.O.O, Ann Nderitu, was at the Mt. Kenya Innovation Week as a panelist. The theme was creating, designing and building the infrastructure for the next economy. The discussion was on the the start up ecosystem and how start-ups can set themselves up to receive investment for growth and scaling.
