RIGHTEOUSNESS VERSUS WICKEDNESS

Proverbs 11:18

"The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward."
There is only one way to a successful life – pursue it faithfully and righteously, as unto the Lord. Sinners cheat themselves! They plan and labor toward a goal, but they either miss their target, or they are unhappy once they get it. On the other hand, the righteous diligently and patiently pursue their objectives, and they either obtain what they sought, or they find equal or greater peace and pleasure without it. What a contrast in lives!
Consider the proverb. The deceitful work of the wicked is the elusiveness of success. He aims for pleasure by sin. He pursues his lusts, but the results never satisfy his craving heart or body. Compare the two clauses to prove this interpretation. The wicked man compares to the righteous. The deceitful work compares to the sure reward. Therefore, the righteous man gets what he patiently pursues, but the wicked end up deceived.
Consider some examples. Satan promised Eve she could be like God by rejecting His command and eating the forbidden fruit (Gen 3:1-5). The first terrible results arrived immediately, but they shall never end (Gen 3:6-24; 5:5; Rev 20:11-15). On the other hand, Satan offered the world’s kingdoms to Jesus, but He endured the temptation, and now He rules heaven and earth (Matt 4:8-11; Heb 12:1-3). He obtained the sure reward.
Amnon fell sick with lust for his beautiful half sister, so he conspired and r***d her, but the consequences were totally unsatisfying and cost him his life (II Sam 13:1-39). On the other hand, Isaac at 40 and Jacob at 77 trusted their fathers for direction about wives, and they both ended up with beautiful women who feared God – Rebekah and Rachel – and a great progeny. Amnon was deceived, but the two patriarchs found a sure reward.
Israel murmured and complained about manna until they forced God to give them quail. He gave it to them – three feet high in every direction as far as they could walk in a day, but He killed many for their lust and sent leanness into the souls of the rest (Ps 106:13-15). On the other hand, a little salad or a dry morsel is more than enough for two people walking with God and in love and at peace with each other (Pr 15:17; 17:1).
Foolish Gehazi lusted after the rich Syrian garments of Naaman, and he lied to obtain them, but he was sorely disappointed in the end to lose the garments, and he and his family ended up with terminal leprosy (II Kgs 5:20-27). On the other hand, Moses rejected the pleasures and riches of Egypt for the people of God, and he was rewarded with one of the highest offices and most illustrious careers in Israel (Heb 11:24-29), and he appeared in a glorified state with Elijah on the mount of transfiguration (Matt 17:1-3).
The man who works himself to death to get ahead seldom enjoys the riches he gathers, for he had no time to relax and enjoy them, and then he is gone. While hearing of his growing assets, he finds himself discontent and wanting more (Ec 5:10). But a righteous man does not even want the danger or vanity of riches, so he prays for modest income and assets rather than wealth, and he is thrilled with the convenient outcome (Pr 30:7-9).
A righteous man may not see his reward for a while, for sowing is a term taken from farming, where men wait many weeks and even months for the reward of a harvest. The exhortation is to never faint, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Gal 6:9). Believest thou this, dear reader?
The reward will most surely come for the righteous. Sow faithfully in righteousness, and you shall reap the reward soon enough (Gal 6:7). “So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth” (Ps 58:11). Godliness has promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come (I Tim 4:8). (ADAPTED FROM COMMENTARY-PROVERBS)

PERSEVERE, YOU WILL GET IT BY FORCE!
The message I'm sharing here is derived from Kikuyu Song-Agiginyani, which when lightly translated means those who persevere.
Human beings, especially Christians go through hard times in life. They get to a point when all seems lost and the hope of ever achieving their goals and aspirations in life seems elusive. We can't deny that life is sometimes hard, but happy are those who persevere for no matter what comes their way, they are able to accomplish their goals even after and seemingly endless chain of frustrations.
The biblical Jacob went physical (I mean, he fought) with the Angel of the Lord and held him tenaciously until it was almost dawn. Jacob wouldn't give up until the Angel released a blessing. It was at that time that his name was changed into Israel. Don't let go of your goals until your name is changed from a quitter to a winner-remember that quitters are failures!
Jesus also gave a story of a widow who used to frequent the homestead of an judge. The bible tells us clearly that the judge did not know God, leave alone fear Him. The judge was troubled so much by the widow due to the frequent and relentless visits she paid him. Then at one time, the judge decided to judge in her favour. Jesus told this story in a bid to emphasize the need for perseverance in prayer. Pray until something happens. God paying undivided attention!
The message being brought forth is that no matter the challenges you encounter, you can still make it. The bible assures us that all things work for the good of those who love and put their hope and trust in the Lord. Those who believe that God is not moved by the degree of the poverty, challenges, frustrations we experience etc, but by the faith that we have in Him are definite victors. Do not relinquish you faith over trials and tribulations.
Ever since the time of John the Baptist, the kingdom of God is advancing forcefully and men of force are able to acquire it. During my early days after accepting Christ as my saviour, I thought that challenges would subside. That all good things would come to me directly on a silver platter. Quite to the contrary. Trial seemed to double. Desires of the flesh became even more intense. But I came to learn that being tempted is not a sin. It only becomes a sin when one gives in. One has to apply force. You should not sit and think that temptations "will fear" or "avoid" you. They will come but you are expected to take moral responsibility by training your body to submit to strict discipline just like Paul told us in his letters. Every trial may be likened to the exams we used to sit for when in primary school. You had to pass well in order for you to be promoted to the next class. Likewise, we should strive to overcome the trials in order to be moved into the next level of glory.
Don't even worry about the number of times you have fallen. Success entails falling seven times then waking up eight times.
So whether it's a job you are looking for, a good friend you open up to, a business opportunity, a big sales ( for salespeople and marketers), good performance in school..... all theses are on the other side of perseverance.
DON'T GIVE UP, YOU WILL GET IT BY FORCE.

FORGET NOT HOW GRACIOUS GOD HAS BEEN!
PSALMS 103:1-1-5,
"Praise the Lord, O my soul; All my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord O my soul and FORGET NOT all His benefits-who forgives your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns your life with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."
Ken was born to beautiful mum and a caring dad. Since his birth, he had not seen anything physically. All he was capable of was hearing people talk & sing, vehicles hooting, children playing, birds singing and occasionally, noise whenever pandemonium would break out. His eyelids had overgrown making it impossible for him to open his eyes.
At the age of seven, his parents organized for a fundraising to raise money for Ken to undergo a medical surgery in order for him to gain sight.
By God's grace, the surgical operation was successful and Ken was for once able to see. On their way back home, they bordered a public service vehicle. When Ken saw all the people in the bus, he would shout, "Thank you God for this miracle!".
When he would see the animals grazing by the roadside, he would clap his hands with joy and shout, "O Lord how great you are!". He had never seen anything like that before and so he was awed by the beauty of the surrounding! Ken kept shouting out of sincere joy until other passenger in the bus felt disturbed and threatened to kick his dad together with him out of the bus. But Ken would not stop. The miracle that the Lord had done for him merited sincere and heartfelt gratitude. The driver stopped the bus and ordered Ken and his dad to get out! The father said, "It is okay I will get out but I will tell you one thing; my son is not mentally ill as some of you have said. All he is doing is appreciate the beauty of the things around him because since his birth, he has never had the opportunity to do so. He has been blind and today he gained sight. He just can't help being grateful to God!"
Today the word of God is reminding us that we should not forget all the good things that the Lord God Almighty has done to us. Being with us from the beginning of the year to now. Being our provider and the source of comfort. Being our source of joy and a refuge in times of trouble. It is not by our might that we've been able to see this year end well. Many people have perished along the way but the Lord has been faithful to you. Remember all the road accidents that have claimed hundreds of lives...remember the Westgate massacre, remember the hundreds of people who have lost their lives in the chaos that erupted in South Sudan. Don't dare forget that you have never bribed God yet He has brought you this far-no strings attached. And to add to that, He is asking for nothing more than praise and sincere worship!
Don't forget all the benefits of the Lord God. Nothing just happens. God has a purpose for you. Give thank to Him and worship is holy name!!!!
