The National HIV, TB, Malaria, Human Rights & Gender Conference 2026 concluded in Naivasha after three days of dialogue, learning and engagement.

The conference brought together stakeholders from across Kenya, creating space for diverse experiences, community perspectives and institutional priorities to inform conversations on HIV, TB, malaria, human rights and gender.

For Ambassador for Youth and Adolescent Rep Health Programme - Ayarhep, the conference reaffirmed one key principle: adolescents, young people and affected communities must be meaningfully involved in shaping the policies, programmes and services that affect their lives.

We leave Naivasha with important lessons, stronger partnerships and renewed commitment to advancing inclusive, rights-based and community-led health responses.

Today, took an important step forward at Makadara Hospital.

Ambassador for Youth and Adolescent Rep Health Programme - Ayarhep concluded our project entry meeting with a team that received the project with real enthusiasm and a clear willingness to work alongside us. There was a shared sense of possibility in the room and a readiness to see how the project can strengthen support, access and HIV prevention for adolescent girls and young women.

For us, that matters. Projects do not create impact on paper. Impact begins when people at the community and facility level believe in the work and are ready to make it happen.

Makadara Hospital is ready. We are ready. And we are looking forward to seeing take shape.

Day 1 of the National HIV, TB, Malaria, Human Rights & Gender Conference 2026 is underway in Naivasha, bringing together stakeholders from different counties, communities and institutions across Kenya.

The diversity in the room matters. Different parts of the country experience health inequalities, stigma, discrimination, gender barriers and access to services differently. Bringing these experiences together strengthens the national conversation on what needs to change and what is already working.

Ambassador for Youth and Adolescent Rep Health Programme - Ayarhep joins this space recognising that sustainable responses to HIV, TB and malaria must be informed by communities themselves, including adolescents and young people, and grounded in human rights, equity and meaningful participation.

Yesterday’s Youth Meeting brought the issue closer to home: debt choices affect health, education, jobs and opportunities.

The priorities raised will inform a Youth Position Paper to be presented to parliamentary representatives on 27 August. The meeting may be over, but the advocacy continues.

Kenya pays creditors nine times more than it spends on health. That imbalance can mean fewer health workers, limited medicines and reduced access to HIV, TB, malaria and reproductive health services.
