Our Founder Bro Omil Innocent Deckoks' over the years engagements with two initiatives in Kenya has given him the opportunity to see this transition from two complementary perspectives.

Through his work as an Environmental Planner, he engaged with Faith Engineering - Steel Fabricators' 'Meko Friendly Steam Cooking System' an innovative clean-cooking solution. This early experience allowed him to look at clean cooking through the lens of environmental planning, with a focus on; resource efficiency, emissions reduction and the potential for locally developed technologies, under the private sector, to contribute to Kenya's low-carbon pathway and in meeting her Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets.

The second experience was very different, in a non-governmental organization but none the less very informative. As a Project Assistant with Care International in Kenya, under his Program Manager then, Ms. Marlene Achoki. Here he also worked in other complementary projects therein, with other 'Seniors' among them Mr. Nicholas Abuya, Mr. Obed Koringo , Mr. Robert Muthami and Mr. Collins Otieno. He gained exposure under a Green Climate Fund climate-friendly cooking programme, including the realities of implementing GCF supported climate interventions on the ground, the bottlenecks, lessons learnt and the paradigm shift potential.

These experiences overtime helped Mr. Bro Omil Innocent Deckoks appreciate that climate financing and supported innovations & technologies, ultimately have to translate into real improvements in people's lives. For vulnerable and rural households for instance, the away from traditional biomass ought to be gradual in my view, and intersects with among others; , , health considerations, household decision-making, technology adoption and the realities of daily life.

In his view, the success of Kenya's clean-cooking transition will not only depend on the technologies we develop, but on how effectively we bridge , , and the 'lived realities' of the people expected to adopt them. Kenya's evolving clean-cooking agenda presents an enormous opportunity to advance equitable energy access, improved livelihoods and a just energy transition.

We have registered our participation in Big 5 Construct Kenya 2026, taking place from 21–23 October 2026 at Sarit Expo Centre Centre, Nairobi. The risk of flooding in areas, and the mitigation thereof, is more often than not a planning challenge. This is one of the reasons our Founder Bro Omil Innocent Deckoks continues to value the background experiences in and applications as an Environmental Planner. When we look at a flood-prone landscape, for instance, it is quite easy to see the glaring immediate issues. Among them:

👉🏿Roads becoming impassable.
👉🏿Agricultural land becoming unproductive.
👉🏿Water becoming a challenge during the dry seasons.

GIS allows us to ask deeper questions:

👉🏿Source of the water.
👉🏿The direction of flow.
👉🏿Areas that are repeatedly affected.
👉🏿The infrastructure and land uses that are exposed.
👉🏿 How water can subsequently contribute to climate resilience and productivity?

Under and through satellite imagery, we can examine changes across space and time, identify historical patterns, monitor land-use and land-use change while providing reliable evidence that can support more informed environmental planning decisions and interventions. The objective is is to understand natural processes, plan around them, and identify opportunities for sustainable use of natural resources.

Under Environmental Planning and Management, and with complementary technological approaches in and , Eco-Sanctify sees these technologies not as standalone technical tools, but as part of broader planning approaches, for building climate-resilient landscapes and sustainable development pathways.

One of the most rewarding aspects of a background course in ‘Environmental Planning and Management’ that our Founder Bro. Innocent Deckoks Omil was part of a decade back at Kenyatta University has been the realization of how technology can and has transformed complex planning challenges into evidence-based solutions. Technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), ArchiCAD, Remote Sensing and Data Analytics have become indispensable tools in and planning processes.
