Renowned movie commentator DJ Afro has officially addressed the reasons behind his departure from the film industry, citing unsustainable financial challenges.
In a detailed disclosure, the legendary entertainer revealed that rampant piracy and a lack of structured remuneration made it impossible to continue his craft. Despite his massive popularity across Kenya, Afro explained that while his content reached every corner of the country, the revenue did not reach him.
"You work, but it doesn't pay you," he stated, highlighting the gap between his fame and his financial reality. He noted that while fans in regions like Mombasa and Lamu enjoyed his work, the lack of a secure distribution system meant he only saw profit from a single sale while thousands of pirated copies circulated.
DJ Afro emphasized that until better methods are established to protect content creators' earnings, the current environment remains too difficult for professional growth.
