BUSINESSAfrica on Monday 11 May 2026 in Nairobi held a meeting on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit ‘Africa Forward Inspire & Connect’, and the Executive Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
This meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of the economic integration process in Africa, as well as to share a common vision for the future with a view to achieving a number of objectives such as building a dynamic partnership with BUSINESSAfrica

During the inspire session, Baidy Agne, President of BUSINESSAfrica alongside Philippe Gautier, MEDEF International, John Mwendwa, Kenya Investment Authority emphasized that the future of Africa lies in shifting from a reliance on development aid toward robust economic alliances and private-sector-led growth.

Au cours de la session « Inspire », Baidy Agne, président de BUSINESSAfrica, aux côtés de Philippe Gautier, de MEDEF International, et de John Mwendwa, de la Kenya Investment Authority, a souligné que l'avenir de l'Afrique réside dans le fait de s'affranchir de la dépendance à l'égard de l'aide au développement pour s'orienter vers des alliances économiques solides et une croissance tirée par le secteur privé.

At the Africa Forward Summit 2026 in Nairobi, Employers’ organisations issued a joint declaration calling for a more balanced, action-oriented economic partnership between Africa and France.
The initiative highlights the importance of:

▪️ Sustainable job creation
▪️ Skills development
▪️ Strengthening local value chains
▪️ Industrial and economic transformation
The declaration reflects a shared commitment to advancing private sector-led growth, competitiveness, and sustainable development across Africa.

Lors du sommet « Africa Forward 2026 » à Nairobi, les organisations patronales ont publié une déclaration commune appelant à un partenariat économique plus équilibré et axé sur l’action entre l’Afrique et la France.

BUSINESSAfrica highlights strengthened regional collaboration among employer organizations following an experience-sharing meeting between the Confederation of IGAD Employers (CIE) and the SADC Private Sector Forum (SPSF), held in Sandton, South Africa from 16–18 April 2026.

The engagement brought together representatives from SADC and IGAD secretariat. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two regional blocs and advancing the promotion of decent work.

This initiative was made possible with the support of the European Union and the International Labour Organization.

BUSINESSAfrica met en avant le renforcement de la collaboration régionale entre les organisations patronales à la suite d'une réunion d'échange d'expériences entre la Confédération des employeurs de l'IGAD (CIE) et le Forum du secteur privé de la SADC (SPSF), qui s'est tenue à Sandton, en Afrique du Sud, du 16 au 18 avril 2026.

Cette rencontre a réuni des représentants des secrétariats de la SADC et de l'IGAD. Les discussions ont porté sur le renforcement de la coopération entre les deux blocs régionaux et la promotion du travail décent.

Cette initiative a été rendue possible grâce au soutien de l'Union européenne et de l'Organisation internationale du travail.

April 8-10, during the Continental Conference for Non-State Actors on Demographic Dividend and Reproductive Health, AUDA-NEPAD, in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC), convened Regional Economic Communities, Member States, and partners in Lusaka to advance the Comprehensive African Social Protection Framework (CASPF) — a key continental instrument to strengthen coordination, policy alignment, and delivery across Africa. The engagement brings together actors to dialogue on the following key pillars:
✔ Strengthening social protection systems and governance
✔ Aligning with regional and international standards
✔ Integrating social protection into Africa’s demographic dividend and development agenda
✔ Advancing inclusion for women, youth, and persons with disabilities

Mr. Baidy Agne President of BUSINESSAfrica lead a delegation to meet Dr Sidi Ould Tah, President of African Development Bank Group. The meeting was a high-level working session with leaders of African business associations on the New African Financial Architecture initiative ( ).

The session focused on the functions of the Private Sector Consultative Committee and also provide an opportunity to present the Bank’s existing instruments supporting the private sector, new instruments currently under preparation, as well as short- and medium-term actions aimed at delivering tangible and measurable results for African enterprises.

The meeting represented an important step in operationalizing the AfDB–Private Sector consultation framework, within an inclusive approach.

M. Baidy Agne, président de BUSINESSAfrica, a conduit une délégation pour rencontrer M. Sidi Ould Tah, président du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement. La réunion était une session de travail de haut niveau avec les dirigeants des associations professionnelles africaines sur l'initiative de la nouvelle architecture financière africaine ( ).

La session a porté sur les fonctions du Comité consultatif du secteur privé et a également été l'occasion de présenter les instruments existants de la Banque en faveur du secteur privé, les nouveaux instruments en cours d'élaboration, ainsi que les actions à court et moyen terme visant à obtenir des résultats tangibles et mesurables pour les entreprises africaines.

Cette réunion a constitué une étape importante dans la mise en œuvre du cadre de consultation entre la BAD et le secteur privé, dans le cadre d'une approche inclusive.
