"Nobody gets a job on merit anymore but through connections....."
I've heard that statement from job seekers so many times, and it's simply not true.
Don't be deceived. It is still very possible to get a job on merit. Every day, qualified people are hired because they prepared well, demonstrated the right skills, and performed strongly in the recruitment process.
Does networking matter? Absolutely. Can referrals open doors? Yes. But they don't automatically guarantee the job. At some point, you still have to prove that you can do the work.
So instead of spending all your energy worrying about who knows who, invest in becoming the candidate who is difficult to ignore. Improve your skills, tailor your CV, prepare for interviews, and keep applying consistently.
Lets be real here! Yes, connections work but MERIT still matters. Make sure yours is visible.
