The Government has suspended public tenders for now as entities transition to a new electronic system starting today.

All Ministries,Department and agencies are required to move their tendering processes to the Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GPS).

The. National Treasury is overseeing the transition.

In case you didn't know, the following abbreviations stand for:-

AGPO - Access to Government Procurement Opportunities commonly referred to as Youth, Women and Person's living with Disability enterprises.

LPO- Local Purchase Order -this is for goods such as stationery, equipment, furniture, computers, printers, maize, meat, etc.

LSO- Local Service Order- this is for services and works such as air tickets, cleaning services, car hire, consultancy, repairs, maintenance, plumbing etc.

RFQ - Request for Quotations

RFP- Request for Proposals

PPRA- Public Procurement Regulatory Authority

BQ- Bills of Quantities

TOR- Terms of Reference

SCM - Supply Chain Management

CFO- Chief Finance Officer
