One man’s sheer refusal to give up stopped a catastrophe.
For most people, survival instinct means self-preservation. But for Machchhar, it meant protecting everyone else on board.
Despite being seriously injured and bleeding from knife wounds, he didn't hesitate. He fought back, resisted with everything he had, managed to open the cockpit door, and created the critical opening passengers and crew needed to overpower the first officer.
His incredible bravery prevented a catastrophic mid-air tragedy, directly safeguarding the lives of 174 people.

From the flight deck to the cabin, this was a testament to ultimate selflessness, split-second courage, and humanity working together across borders.
