Monetization 101:
Part 2a: Introduction to Meta - Community Standards, Content Monetization Policies, Partner Monetization Policies
Meta platforms are the commonly used apps for social media content. Before you think about making money off of these platforms, there’s one thing most creators overlook: the rules behind monetization.
Meta platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and Threads) operate under a shared system that determines who gets paid, and who doesn’t.
Before you can hit that "Monetize" button, you need to master the three pillars of eligibility that govern Meta platforms:
1️⃣ Community Standards: The foundation of safety and authenticity for everyone.
2️⃣ Partner Monetization Policies: The rules for who can earn (your identity and presence).
3️⃣ Content Monetization Policies: The rules for what can earn (your specific videos and posts).
In part 2a, I break down:
- What Meta platforms are, and how they are connected
- The Community Standards every creator must follow
- What type of content actually earns
- What is required from you as a creator
Kindly note that not all content that is allowed on these platforms can be monetized.
And in many cases, violating these policies - knowingly or unknowingly - can limit or completely remove your ability to earn.
Understanding these guidelines is the foundation of building a sustainable income from social media. Think of this as your roadmap to brand safety and long-term revenue.
Stay with the series as I break down each platform and how monetization works in practice.
