“Simplifying complexity and complicating simplicity.”

What Adrian is trying to do here is to make practice easier and enjoyable by taking away the need for an end gain and focusing on the process. Given that there is a disturbing tendency to create a hierarchy of pieces and equating them to someone’s level, the goal is to create appreciation for all technical skills by creating a common ground and goal when approaching any piece of music. Some ways of doing this would involve going back to basics (scales, preparatory exercises, etc.), and analysis (harmony, phrase structure, rhythmic interconnection, etc.).
