🌍✨ We are pleased to share that GSCS International Kenya Ltd successfully participated in and completed Africa’s biggest Trade Event for the Textile, Apparel Sourcing, Sustainability, Innovation, Texprocess Exhibitions, and Fashion Industry.

From November 8th to 11th, 2024, we had the remarkable opportunity to partner with Texprocess Exhibitions, organized by "Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH", and launch new brands in Addis Ababa. This collaboration with "Africa Sourcing and Fashion Week" was a true celebration of creativity, progress, and sustainable fashion.

SLCP (Social Labor Convergence Program) is a multi-stakeholder assessment program aiming to improve working conditions within the global apparel and footwear sectors. It’s a program that brings together Suppliers, Manufacturers and Globe Brands to jointly meet the mission to improve working conditions in the global apparel and footwear industries and positively impact the people working in supply chains.

The Converged Assessment Framework consists of a Data Collection Tool, Verification Protocol and Verifier Guidance. The first step in the process is a self-assessment questionnaire using the Data Collection Tool. The facility completes information about the health, safety and working conditions of their site. A customer will request a facility to undertake an assessment and the facility will complete this by doing self-assessment. The facility’s responses are then verified by an SLCP verifying body using the Verification Protocol and Verifier Guidance.

The Higg Index was developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), an alliance for sustainable production in the apparel, footwear and home textile industry. It is a standardized supply chain measurement tool to help brands, retailers and manufacturing facilities understand the environmental, social and labor impacts of making and selling their products and resolve any damaging practices present in their supply chain. The index also creates an easy way to benchmark, evaluate and assess a facility’s performance year over year.

These assessments can then be verified by a SAC-approved, on site assessor called a Verifying Body. Verifying a facility’s Higg Index FEM or FSLM improves the credibility and comparability of the scores. The verification process involves reviewing the answers to the self-assessment and determining their accuracy through an on-site assessment by a SAC-approved, on site assessor called a Verifying Body.

GSCS International Ltd. is an approved Verifying Body for both the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) and the Higg Facility Social & Labor Module (FSLM).
