I Asked God

I asked God for patience,
He me sent trials to trace His ways.
In waiting, I found His gentle grace.

I asked God for confidence,
Fear’s dark shade filled my heart.
I rose, my courage made whole.

I asked God for love,
He brought the lost to my door.
In their need, His love I saw.

I asked God for joy,
He gave me sorrow’s fleeting sting.
In its wake, true joy took wing.

I asked God for wisdom,
Challenges drew me to His face.
From His light, I chose with grace.

I asked God for strength,
He set mountains for me to climb.
I scaled them, strong in His time.

I asked God for peace,
Through storms He walked by my side.
In His calm, my heart abide.
