Coast water crisis deepens as utilities fail to pay Sh5.5 billion debt

Water shortages along the Coast are worsening as four water companies serving the region struggle with debts of about Sh5.5 billion owed to bulk water suppliers.

The Coast Water Works Development Agency says unpaid bills have weakened its ability to maintain infrastructure and reliably supply water to counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Taita Taveta.

Illegal connections, leakages, ageing pipes and electricity costs are also worsening the crisis, with some suppliers reportedly disconnected over unpaid bills.

Slavery and Salary Problems Exposed at Joymacx Enterprise

Hello Joseph Roberts Private Investigators And Debt Collectors,

I am writing to you because your influence can help bring attention to an issue affecting workers employed by Joymacx Enterprise at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Terminals B, C and D.

The workers have not been paid their July salaries, even though August is now coming to an end. They have continued waiting for their money, with no clear resolution to the delay.

The situation is becoming difficult for many of the affected workers. They depend on their salaries to meet their daily needs, and the prolonged delay has left them struggling.

What is even more worrying is the condition of some of the workers. They are visibly weak and depressed, with many silently going through financial hardship as they wait for their July pay.

These workers have already worked for the month, yet they are still waiting for their salaries.

A recruitment scandal has rocked the Social Health Authority (SHA) after it emerged that a candidate who was never shortlisted for a senior position was appointed, while applicants who scored 80% and 90% or above during interviews were largely overlooked, with sources claiming the shortlist was expanded from about 240 to 441 candidates through the addition of names, some belonging to individuals who had never applied for the positions.

The revelations have cast doubt on the credibility of the recruitment process and placed SHA CEO Dr Mercy Mwangangi and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale under pressure to explain how the appointments were made, with sources calling for an independent inquiry into the alleged manipulation of the shortlist and claims that merit was disregarded in favour of connected candidates.

Parliament scrutinises companies linked to eCitizen after World Bank sanctions

Parliamentary scrutiny is increasing around companies associated with Kenya's eCitizen infrastructure following World Bank sanctions against businessman James Ayugi and Webmasters Kenya.

Lawmakers are examining questions around ownership structures, government technology contracts, public payments and the role of private companies in systems that collect or process state revenue.

The scrutiny is likely to intensify because eCitizen has become central to government service delivery, making transparency over contractors, data systems and financial flows a major public-interest issue.
