It's natural to try and correct others when they make a mistake, or doing things differently than the way you would have done it. It's even more difficult to control your impulse to show them how much more intelligent you are. The able to recognize and control such impulses in the beginning of developing emotional intelligence.

Part of emotional intelligence is figuring out what the unwriiten ruoes at work are. When you get hired, you are given the written rules by Human Resources, but you have to figure out the unwritten rules for yourself. What are some unwritten rules?

If you are told that there is free parking for everyone, don't park anywhere just yet. See where specific people like the CEO or managing director have their favourite parking spots and choose not to park there. Why? Have you ever come in to work and you are in a happy mood and then someone just parked in your parking spot? Suddenly your mood changes and might find yourself subconsciously directing negative energy towards that person. It could escalate to something worse.

Choose to avoid all this energy by being observant and park in your own spot. Dont fight someone for it. It's not worth it.
