Building on last week’s successful workshop for Public Sector Stakeholders, Niko Green will be facilitating another Stakeholders’ Workshop for Non-State Actors on Thursday 11th December 2025 to review the draft National Green Healthcare Guidelines for Kenya.

The workshop is intended to achieve various objectives, including:

1. Collect NSAs’ recommendations to improve the guidelines’ content, feasibility, and impact.

2. Build consensus on priority NSAs’ contributions to guideline implementation at national and county levels.

3. Identify opportunities for partnerships, financing, and capacity-building to support rollout.

4. Secure stakeholder commitments toward championing and supporting climate-smart healthcare practices.

Highlights from of the Stakeholder Workshop to review the draft Kenya Green Healthcare Guidelines.

Unlike which was largely facilitator led, Day 2 saw a more engaging discussion with delegates sharing their expertise and making vital contributions to the draft guidelines.

Kenya is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 35% by 2035 and enhancing climate resilience, as articulated in its Second Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. The healthcare sector plays a dual role in safeguarding public health and contributing to national emissions through energy consumption, waste generation, procurement, and transportation.

The Ministry of Health, with support from the Global Health Partnership Project through the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is developing National Green Healthcare Guidelines for Kenya. These guidelines aim to provide a structured framework for reducing the health sector’s carbon footprint, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening climate resilience.

Niko Green, led by Arch. Nickson Otieno has been providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health, Kenya in developing the Green Healthcare Guidelines.

We look forward to facilitating an engaging Public Sectors' Stakeholder Workshop on 2nd & 3rd December 2025 at Ole Ken Hotel, Nakuru to review the draft Green Healthcare Guidelines.
