Genesis 6:8-22

The just shall live by faith. Since time, in the generations past, the just have always lived by faith. It's always faith that GOD looked at, and GOD in HIS eyes saw Noah and saw his faith there, and GOD gave him Grace. That Grace is exhibited in GOD'S provision to save Noah and his family from what HE had purposed to do, which is judging the world for sin. The Grace that GOD showed him is in the form of instruction to build the ark, and he's going to be saved.

What does faith do? Faith responds in obedience, faith believes GOD. Faith tells GOD, "Tell me what to do, and I'll do it." Faith doesn’t oppose what GOD says. It responds to what GOD says, in the affirmative, in obedience, and that's what Noah does here in Genesis 6.

Exactly what we must do today, to be saved and to live in the blessings of GOD and all GOD is that HE has graciously given to us, or made accessible to us. We must respond in the affirmative, in obedience to what GOD has said in HIS WORD. This also tells us that we must know what GOD has said in HIS WORD because blind response is not effective and fruitful.

The prescription of Wisdom.

(Proverbs 1:7, 9:10)

The fear of THE LORD is the beginning of wisdom. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of THE LORD. The beginning of wisdom is not searching out successful people and reading their autobiographies. It comes or starts with the fear of THE LORD, HE'S The ONE WHO knows what true success is. Success is simply accomplishing a goal, and wisdom will tell you whether the goal is worthy or not. Success speaks nothing of which goal you should accomplish. That's why GOD doesn't say we seek success but wisdom. Because wisdom will tell you again whether the goal is worthy or not.

Success means it doesn't matter how you get there as long as you get there. But wisdom says it matters how you get there and even tells you where to reach. We can be successful in certain terms or in other things and fail in our inner man. Wisdom says, if you're going to get there you should get there right, make yourself whole." Wisdom is the principle thing.

The mode of operation of trying anything to be whole or to solve your inner man problems is not wisdom. That might work for your physical problems, maybe. Again, it is not wisdom. You can't go out saying you'll do anything. Yes, sometimes you get at the end of the road and have no options and will try anything. But to go out ready to do anything and everything anyone tells you to do to solve your physical problems, that's not wisdom. By the way, that's how people end up in shrines visiting shrinks and witches, and also find themselves scammed and joining cults, etc, seeking physical success.

We should evaluate the instructions, where it is coming from, what it means, and the consequences before we do anything else.

Components of Salvation

JUSTIFICATION

GOD chose Israel as HIS people and said they were to be a holy and righteous nation. In Exodus 23:7, GOD says HE won't justify a wicked person. What did they learn from this verse? Was the lesson that they must be better than everyone else? Because GOD said they were righteous? Or wasn't the lesson that GOD wasn't justifying wicked people and they were one of those wicked people? The latter was the proper response to the law. The wrong response to the law was the Pharisees and scribes seeing themselves righteous in their efforts(self righteous).

When we're living in the approach of the Pharisees and scribes, an approach of self righteousness, then we don't need GOD. We don't need a saviour.

Deuteronomy 6:25 - How were they to be righteous? The verse is clear. By the way, this is what faith does. Faith does all that is required by GOD to do at any time. Back here, GOD required them to do these 613 commandments.

Deuteronomy 16:18-20. See this little explanation of right doing? If you do the right things, GOD allows you to live and gives you an inheritance. Justification is what allows us to live. It is the element of salvation that qualifies us to have eternal life. In the above verses, what would it mean if they failed to do the commandments? They would not live, not enter the kingdom, nor have their inherited land. Kinda what law teachers today teach. What JESUS too taught in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Their justification came by obedience to the commandments.

Genesis 6:8-22

We'll spend some time here in Genesis 6:8, where Noah found Grace in GOD'S eyes. We've seen GOD’S Grace even since Genesis 3. Today, we live in the dispensation of GRACE. When we hear that and that the Gospel of the Grace of GOD, the mystery of CHRIST was first revealed to Paul. We always want to go in protest to the verses where Grace is mentioned before Paul.

It is true that Grace is found throughout the Bible, so what is the difference between Grace back here in Genesis 6 and Grace today? If Grace is not what we do but what GOD does, what is the difference? We'll look at the significant difference so that we know how to handle this. Graciousness is an attribute of GOD, and HE'S has been gracious since the beginning. It's not that HE'S only gracious today. It's not like The GOD of the Old Testament is somehow fundamentally different than The GOD of the New Testament or in the mystery of CHRIST. That would be a wrong thinking.

HE is the same GOD. It is what HE offers and how HE relates to man that changes. HIS instructions changes but GOD and HIS character never change. So there is always at any time Grace comes from THE LORD. Back here, even though the world was wicked and GOD'S purpose was to destroy the earth, Noah found Grace in the eyes of THE LORD. That's not something Noah had anything to do with. It wasn't that Noah was such a good person, and he qualified for GOD'S Grace.

It's the issue of self-righteousness vs. GOD'S righteousness. That's always been the case. We'll see, as Habakkuk said, what Paul quotes in Romans 1 that the just shall live by faith.

Prayer is an act of submission.

Prayer also helps us remember our submission to the words of GOD.

Prayer shows belief in GOD, trusting in HIS words and humility before these words, that give eternal profit.

The prescription of Wisdom.

A wise person will look for a rebuke. When we think we have it all together but we don't, we don't get wisdom from that thinking, and we'll still be having our inner man's problems.

The first place we should look for rebuke is in the scripture because it is a thing that some people will wrongly rebuke you. So, how do we know they're rebuking us right or wrong? From the scripture. All scripture is profitable for rebuke. We either open our ears or shut them, open our eyes or shut them, etc. We can be wrong. We can be wicked, but there is an opportunity to believe the truth and be transformed for the better.

This is why wisdom must be taken with humility.

Proverbs 15:33 - we want more honour. We need to humble ourselves. This is throughout the scripture, and JESUS said it this way (Matthew 20:16). Paul says the same thing, the self must be reckoned dead. If you're in CHRIST, you're crucified with HIM. Your life is not yours anymore. We don't even deserve eternal life in the first place. We receive it by Grace through faith.

The instructions of wisdom must be believed, received, and practised to be beneficial as a cure. If we don't want it, believe, receive, and practice it because we know better than we will not get wisdom and won't be cured of our inner man's problems.

Genesis 6:8-22

Based on the many years they lived in the pre-flood, we saw that there were probably many hundreds of thousands, millions or billions of people back there before the floods. That's also considering the current growth rate that we have today in the world. No doubt there were many people back there. Yet GOD saw them as wicked, HE explains why, and we read about that in Romans 1 and Genesis 6.

Genesis 6:8 says Noah found Grace in the eyes of The LORD. So, in contrast to the wickedness that GOD saw, in HIS eyes, HE gave Grace to Noah. Now, Grace in the Bible is not something you earn or deserve. CHRIST did something that we couldn't do and provided the means by which GOD could give Grace to people. Well, of course back here in Genesis 6, CHRIST hadn't even been born to the human race yet. Yes, CHRIST was GOD, HE was in existence, but the Grace of GOD hadn't been revealed, yet Noah found Grace in GOD'S eyes.

This is the first mention of that word Grace in the Bible. Even though we talked a little about it back in the garden of Eden. Remember, they were chased out of the garden in Eden, but GOD was still merciful to them, clothed them, and even gave them opportunity to HIS provision. We learnt that they surely died in Genesis 3, yet still, GOD made provision for them and even gave them a way to worship HIM back there with Abel being GOD'S prophet. Even with Enoch, we saw that it was still possible for people in their fallen condition to be able to walk with GOD, that's Grace and mercy right there.

It didn't mean that they didn't have a sinful nature, but GOD was providing for them a way. The same goes for Genesis 6. It's not that in their wickedness, they were left without a means to do right and walk right. GOD had sent preachers of righteousness, and Peter calls Noah a preacher of righteousness. So Noah was preaching back there.

The prescription of Wisdom.

Wisdom has to be taken with humility. We can not gain wisdom with pride. We saw that if we want to gain the benefits of spiritual treatment in our lives' spiritual problems, then we have to start with humility, go to guilt, then repentance, and we receive Grace. The Bible gives us a treatment for our condition of selfishness, which is to kill it by making it guilty and causing it to repent.

We can't take wisdom without humility. Just the same way we could listen to an advice or a teaching with skeptical ears, already concluding within us that we'll not follow what someone is telling us because we think we know better and end up failing. It's the same way with receiving wisdom from GOD. What I mean is that we can't come to GOD'S wisdom saying it's not going to work.

If we don't have humility, this is what we get (Proverbs 9:7). A scoffer is one that does not want to submit to what is being said. They mock it and think it is foolish. We need correction and rebuke oftenly and the Bible is there for that. When reproof, rebuke, correction comes back to us as shame and harm, it tells us something about the person we are talking to. The above proverbs verse is talking about someone who's not gonna submit to wisdom, and verse 8 calls a person who loves rebuke a wise person.

The Bible says it's a wise choice to love rebuke. Why is that? Because if we want to get better, we need to first realize we are wrong. We are not always right, and when we know that, then we'll listen. In the business world and in our lives, generally, for us to succeed, we always have to learn to accept failure and problems. We have to accept that we can also make wrong choices and decisions. That's the only way we'll realize and turn to making the right choices and decisions.

Components of Salvation

JUSTIFICATION

We are going to go through the Bible looking at the differences on how justification was taught under the law program, by the prophets, by JESUS in HIS earthly ministry, by the apostles James specifically and by Paul. What we'll see here is that you can't just teach the message that Paul teaches about justification back in the law system, neither would it be a right thing to teach justification under the law system today. We have to rightly divide these things.

GOD always saves by HIS Grace through faith, always justifies humanity, and it's the only way anyone could be saved, but how HE did that was kept a secret. It was a mystery.

Let's start back in Exodus 23. Sometimes, those who rightly divide are accused of nitpicking on things because people read their Bibles and immediately put themselves in all the pages. There is no looking at who was being addressed first before dividing how it would apply to us. GOD WHO gave us the Bible calls for us to rightly divide (2 Timothy 2:15), and putting ourselves blindly on every page is wrong because we miss the context and are immediately plunged into confusion. They didn't know back there what we know today, through the mystery of CHRIST given to Paul.

We read Exodus 23:6-8, and we can see GOD teaching them how to judge and the judgement that's going to happen. There are righteous people and wicked people as well. HE is teaching those that were in positions to judge not to look at a poor person and judge them wrongly even when they're right while looking at a rich person or a person they could benefit from in anyway and judge them right even when they're wrong and wicked. If he/she was wicked, they're condemned even if they can bribe, and if they were righteous, they're justified even if they're poor and have nothing to offer.
