GIZ Ethiopia in cooperation with the Ethiopian Government is implementing the Integrated Soil Fertility Management Project in Ethiopia.

As part of the project activities, MDF West Africa in collaboration with GIZ Ethiopia team embarked on a four day field visits this week to organizations with best practices in the organic waste to value eco system in Ghana

The team visited Accra Compost & Recycling Plant (ACARP), Safisana Ghana Ltd, Blue Skies Ghana Limited, IRC Ghana, International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Ministry of Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.

The purpose of the visit was to understand and learn new approaches from the fields of organic waste to value eco system and waste management in Ghana, and adapting best practices to improve waste and recycling ecosystem in Ethiopia as well as improving soil fertility management methods in Ethiopia.

Une approche sur le renforcement de capacité des entrepreneurs de ABC Bénin.
Le projet ABC Bénin qui accompagne les entrepreneurs locaux et ceux de la diaspora intervient dans le renforcement de capacité des entrepreneurs. Vu la demande de nos entrepreneurs sur le renforcement de capacité en marketing, il a été organisé une formation avec une approche particulière.
On a voulu lié la technique à la pratique, pour cela on a inscrit nos entrepreneurs à une des plus grandes foires de Cotonou (Grande Foire Commerciale) qui s’étaient déroulé du 15 Décembre 2022 au 3 janvier 2023. Tout en les invitant à venir exposer leurs produits on les conseillait sur l’art du marketing sur les stands de l’exposition de leurs produits. MDF West Africa trainers Susanne Roelofsen and Ekow Akyin Kwofie facilitated a co-creation workshop with over 25 trainers, facilitators and coaches in Ethiopia this week. We went through our program materials for a pre- and post- investment program for SMEs and worked on localizing the content to the context.

These programs fall under the Technical Assistance Facility of UNDP's Innovative Finance Facility. A total of 100 businesses will be supported with workshops, peer review sessions and advisory services to grow their business. Applications for the program are open until February 20th

The Dutch Export Academy (DEA) is a project organized by Ghana Netherlands Business Council and Culture (GNBCC) in partnership with MDF West Africa.

Climate change, act now!

Did you know that you can reduce food waste from the point of production, whether in the farms or marketplace, while generating clean renewable energy?

This was the key message during the Annual Climathon Hackathon organised by BOOT project partners in Mombasa City, Kenya. Led by MDF, the sought to raise awareness and understanding of the impacts of climate change on our health and the environment. The event drew participants from a variety of fields, including academia, business, government, and Mombasa residents.

The challenges presented focused on behavioral change and food waste management to fight climate change and make Mombasa a sustainable city. From ideation to pitching, the teams that emerged as winners of the food waste challenge received technical mentorship & support from MDF through the pillar under the project.
