I had the privilege of being involved in the just concluded RevUp investor readiness program. The program funded by the Visa Foundation and implemented by AfriLabs and Impacc aimed to train and fund success business through the Catalytic Africa matching fund.

Had the opportunity to support and mentor 8 women led business cutting across agriculture and agro processing value chain.

Congratulations to Annabel Angwenyi founder of Ziada for emerging the winner of a grant of USD 10,000

This experience reinforced the idea that when women are given the support and opportunities they deserve, they can achieve remarkable success in the entrepreneurial world.

In recent years, there has been a notable surge in young women entrepreneurs breaking traditional barriers and venturing into unconventional fields. One such inspiring example is in the realm of agriculture, where a growing number of young women are making their mark as they empower themselves and their communities.

Through the Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) AgriBiz programme I have been matched to handhold a couple of entrepreneurs in agricultural and livestock value chains.

The research indicates that in terms of success factors, more than 50% can be attributed to the entrepreneur. The characteristics of the business owner is crucial for the survive and growth of their enterprise. A successful entrepreneur is

2. Do not react to events but are continually planning (good planning is an important success indicator), constantly revise plans in light of customer and environment feedback
3. Creativity and innovating, having an ability to learn and apply this learning and having a culture of achievement.

5. Information seeking, they gather information far and wide to gain credibility in their space
