EcoPlanet Bamboo converts degraded and marginalized land into deforestation free bamboo plantations, providing a certified source of fiber for timber manufacturing industries. EcoPlanet Bamboo was founded in 2010 with the following major objectives:

1) To provide a tangible solution for increasing global demand for timber and therefore inadvertently address issues of deforestation and envir

onmental concern.
2) To provide an alternative fiber that can be profitable while meeting current market economics and supply chains.
3) To convert degraded and marginalized land into functioning plantations that provide sustainable livelihoods and stimulate rural economies. Since 2010 EcoPlanet Bamboo has lead the industrialization of bamboo as an economically viable deforestation free alternative fiber for timber manufacturing industries globally. The conversion of degraded land into certified bamboo plantations is coupled with innovative technology development to provide bamboo based solutions for products and markets that currently contribute to the deforestation of our world’s remaining natural forests. EcoPlanet Bamboo currently owns and operates more than 35,000 acres of sustainable bamboo plantations across Central America, South and West Africa, and has a growing global team of more than 750 employees, providing critical job opportunities in some of the poorest parts of the planet. EcoPlanet Bamboo investments are triple bottom line returns – economic, social, and environmental – through our global bamboo plantations. Using strict land use criteria, our operations focus on the restoration of severely degraded land where deforestation continues to create negative land use change. Our bamboo plantations are located in some of the world’s most remote areas with unprecedented levels of poverty, representing a high potential for positively impacting social change. EcoPlanet Bamboo’s plantations create landscape scale ecosystems that promote biodiversity and enable improved natural resource management, while creating diversified options for economic and social development. All while providing a sustainable, renewable and certified source of fiber that can feed into existing supply chains of the four major industries that use the majority of the world’s wood and timber supply - pulp and paper, textiles, engineered wood products and bioenergy.
