💎 Audit for Objectives, Not Just Processes: Instead of checking if environmental objectives are documented, evaluate how those objectives were derived from the organization’s strategic goals, and whether they are being met through measurable data, not just activity.
💎Audit for Risk Thinking, Not Just Controls: Start auditing the risk identification process. Does your team understand context, lifecycle perspectives, and evolving climate risk, and is that understanding driving the controls?
💎Audit for Effectiveness, Not Just Conformity: It’s possible to have 100% clause conformity while environmental performance is actually decreasing. Auditing for effectiveness means examining the actual outcomes of the EMS, not just the existence of its components.
💎Audit for Continual Improvement, Not Just Quick Patches: Evaluate root cause analysis, not just correction logs. Does the corrective action prevent recurrence globally, or does it just fix the local symptom? Is improvement systemic, or accidental?
