The Kenya Youth Employment & Opportunities (KYEOP) project of Kenya's ministry of Public Service, Youth & Gender came to an effective close on the Friday 16th November 2018 after 10 days of full-day training encompassing 10 modules.

The ten day training sponsored by the World Bank was a round-two deliberate intervention in the life of youth to acquire skills either for employment but mostly to start and own businesses.

The 185 youth were taught how to be employees, the employment process, youth as entrepreneurs, generation of business ideas, business planning, starting own business, business operations & funding, costing & pricing, business records, businesses opportunities in government and savings & investment, a part from social security planning and basic computer use in business.

The Ipms Strategic Centre is publishing a scientific paper in a reputable global journal of management about the impact and influence of Core Business Skills Training (CBST) on the youth attitude towards starting and running a business with primary data from the training.

We are very keen on positively influencing policy interventions and management in both the ministry and at the international donor agencies as the project progresses to cycle 3.

1. Closed courses are those which we create for use in a closed community either in an institution or a locality. In this respect we will use the platform as an interactive learning tool involving creating and publishing courses and inviting students in this process. The Activity platform will help us provide four types of closed courses for e-learning forum discussions (live classes), assignments, grades, quizzes, feedbacks and video notes on mobile app. It works on all of Android Smartphones and Tablets. The difference in these courses is the maximum length that each course can be set-up for.

1. Crash Course: Days - Few weeks e.g 1-30 days
2. Short Course: Days - Months e.g 1-2 months
3. Medium Term Course: Months e.g 3-6 months
4. Full Year Course: Up to a year e.g 6-12 months

Where Do We Meet?

Kenya's National Government's formulation of the big-4 development goals of universal healthcare, manufacturing, job creation and food security is easily a narrowed and clear focus for pushing this country up the success ladders of Vision-2030 blueprint.

The country has a clearer opportunity to roundly develop Kenya using the counties as the implementation units, after all these are developed functions from schedule four of the country's constitution 2010. This will heal unnecessary tensions and feelings of marginalisation that have characterized Kenya for long and offer a chance to the Counties to receive higher national revenue allocations spefic for high impact projects.

President Kenyatta reached out to Governors in his recent last address to them in Kwale, Kenya during their induction. Let him, specifically, target the Council of Govrrnord (COGs) and impress upon them the need to domicile the big-4 agenda in their county's development plans.

Beyond this, our congratulations to the president on being noticed, for nobility by a UN agency, UNICEF, and made an ambassador of youth empowerment for health, nutrition and education. Kenya has space to spur change in the region on these ideals. God bless Kenya ([email protected],
