The WEEE Centre WEEE Centre was launched in 2012, with a view to providing e-Waste management services in Africa

With e-waste becoming a reality in Kenya and such recycling activities on the rise, a need has been felt in all quarters for an efficient and environmentally sound management of e-waste in the country. Across the world, mainly in Europe, there have been different models for the management of such waste, which have been successful. WEEE Centre is a limited liability company cognisant of the dichotomous fact that developing nations such as Kenya lack the resources to rapidly bridge the digital divide with brand new equipment and yet lack the capacity to safely dispose of the large numbers of pre-owned computers they must acquire to move forward, and which will inevitably “die” sooner than brand new machines

The WEEE Centre proudly participated in the Waste Management Exhibition Day at Rockside Academy Utawala . Led by our Manager, Joyce Ruto, we engaged students on the importance of proper waste management, recycling, and environmental conservation, encouraging them to be champions of a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Beyond the insightful discussions, the day came alive with vibrant cultural performances and a creative fashion show that highlighted innovation, sustainability, and the power of self-expression. It was inspiring to witness students using art, culture, and fashion to amplify the message of environmental responsibility.

Together, we’re empowering the next generation to protect our planet—one conversation, one performance, and one action at a time. 🌍♻️

Proper e-waste management begins with accessible collection points, and e-waste collection bins play a critical role in making responsible disposal simple, safe, and effective. By providing dedicated collection points for obsolete and end-of-life electronics, these bins help prevent improper disposal, protect the environment and ensure valuable materials are recovered through environmentally sound recycling.
As part of its mission to advance sustainable e-waste management in Kenya, the WEEE Centre continues to partner with institutions to strengthen collection infrastructure and promote a circular electronics economy. Our Manager, Joyce, recently handed over e-waste collection bins to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), further strengthening our shared commitment to responsible electronics stewardship.
Together, we are creating practical solutions that encourage responsible disposal, increase collection rates and move Kenya closer to a cleaner, greener future.
Do you have obsolete laptops, phones, printers, batteries, or other electronic devices? Don’t throw them away. Dispose of them responsibly at designated WEEE Centre collection points and be part of the circular economy.
Let’s work together to turn e-waste into opportunity and protect our environment for future generations.
