Are you setting S.M.A.R.T goals? Make sure they are "Timed".

Do you know what the start and finish dates are for your goals?

Open ended goals will most likely not get done.

Example: A company has a goal to increase sales by providing a promotion. A launch date is identified and how long it will run, resources are aligned to kick it off and ensure it's success.

Setting SMART goals - "R" - Relevant

Are your goals realistic? Can they get you the results you are aiming for?

You can't expect to land in the moon with a car, you'll need to build a rocket to get you there.

For example: A business owner wants to setup an additional store s/he will need to evaluate - does it align with the company's goals, why do it, is now the right time, are there necessary resources available etc

About setting SMART goals - "A"

"Attainable" - Set objectives that can be achieved and are possible to reach. It's good to challenge yourself and team on what has been Specified and Measured. Assess to ensure you can reach the stretch.

For instance: Reduce customer complaints by 50% .
The specific goal is to improve customer relations by reducing the no. of complaints. It is measurable and it can be determined if the goal was attained. Was it attained - Yes/No and by how much?

MEASURABLE .... " to measure ascertain size or amount or degree of something". When planning a project's goals it's important to have measures of the objectives to be attained.

For instance:
- The event will host 100 guests
- The renovation will update 3 areas - kitchen, guest and common areas
- The software updates will improve 2 functionalities - collaboration and integration
