What an incredible and inspiring day at Yatta Farm! 🌱☀️

We at Eco Metering Africa were humbled to witness the amazing work of Christian Impact Mission (CIM). They've shown the world that even a place once called "wasteland" can bloom with life, hope, and abundance. We went to learn from a model that has successfully turned a "wasteland" into a beacon of agricultural productivity and community resilience.

For us as an Agri-Tech and Green Energy startup, this wasn't just a field trip; it was a validation of our core mission. The Yatta model brilliantly demonstrates the inextricable link between water security, energy access, and smallholder farmer prosperity.

Here are our key strategic takeaways:
💧 Water is the Key, Green Energy is the Lock: CIM's 100+ water pans are the foundation. Our role? To provide the solar-powered irrigation and smart metering that make this water accessible and affordable for high-value agriculture.
🌱 The "One Acre Rule" is a Blueprint for Precision: CIM proves extreme productivity is possible on a small plot. We're productizing this with our "EcoMeter One-Acre Prosperity Kit" – bundling solar pumps, drip irrigation, and smart tech to maximize every drop and every ray of sun.
🤝 Mindset is the First Technology to Adopt: The most powerful innovation in Yatta was the shift in community mindset. This reinforces our belief that technology must be introduced within a framework of trust and shared vision.

We are excited to be exploring a formal "Yatta 2.0: Digitizing Resilience" partnership with CIM. Our goal is to integrate our climate-smart solutions to help scale this incredible model, transforming more arid communities into hubs of sustainable wealth.

We were proud to represent Eco Metering Africa at the CGIAR Science Week 2025, an event that brought together over 1,500 scientists, policymakers, and innovators to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time—transforming global agri-food systems.

Represented by our CEO and Co-Founder, Lilian Ogwari , Eco Metering Africa engaged in high-impact discussions on sustainable food production, climate resilience, and innovation-driven partnerships. As a company focused on advancing smart, data-driven metering technologies for agricultural ecosystems, we found the dialogue incredibly aligned with our mission.

🔍 Key Highlights:

• The launch of CGIAR ’s 2025–2030 Research Portfolio, with a renewed focus on climate action, food security, and inclusive innovation.
• Strategy dialogues on genebank innovation, next-gen crop breeding, and digital transformation in agriculture.
• A powerful quote from CGIAR Chief Scientist Sandra Milach reminded us of the evolving nature of global challenges and the importance of building new capabilities to meet them.

💡 From sessions on scaling innovation and seed systems, to eye-opening panels on gender equality, digital agriculture, and regenerative landscapes, it was clear: the future of food depends on collaboration, data, and forward-thinking partnerships.

As we reflect on a week of bold ideas and critical connections, we're energized by the role Eco Metering Africa can play in shaping a smarter, more resilient future for food systems in Africa and beyond.

🌟 Exciting News for Eco Metering Africa! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that Eco Metering Africa has been selected to participate in the SPARK AFCM Leadership Program 2025! 🎉

This prestigious program, designed to empower African women in technology and climate change innovation, organized and supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Sustainet Group Ltd and Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA-Kenya), will run from January to April 2025. It focuses on equipping leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to create lasting impact and break down systemic barriers.

We’re even more excited to share that we will participate in this transformative journey, starting with the interactive three-day in-person bootcamp in Arusha, Tanzania, from January 22–24, 2025. 🌍

This opportunity underscores our commitment to advancing sustainable solutions for Africa’s agriculture and climate challenges. As we gear up for this experience, we look forward to learning, growing, and contributing to positive change across the continent.

🌍 Weekend Wrap-Up: Eco Metering Africa proudly joined hundreds of stakeholders at Tatu City for the impactful 'Plant Your Age' initiative! 🌱

Together, we planted 47 trees, each symbolizing the 47 counties of Kenya. Not only do these trees represent our ages, but they also stand as a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering a greener, more equitable, and sustainable future for generations to come.

We are thrilled to announce that our application was shortlisted for an interview for the AI Hub for Sustainable Development: Startup Acceleration Pilot Programme! 🌍✨

While we were not selected for the final programme in San Francisco, we are incredibly proud that our application stood out among numerous submissions. 🙌 The UNDP accelerator programme was impressed by our innovative ideas and unwavering commitment to AI for sustainable development. 🌱🤖

What’s next? As finalists, we are honored to have the opportunity to participate in dedicated acceleration and capacity-building programming through the UNDP Accelerator Labs in the coming months. 🚀 We are excited to continue pushing boundaries, creating impact, and embracing new opportunities. Earlier in the day, I had the privilege of representing Green Africa Foundation at The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA) Bi-Monthly Talk Series 114, held at Serena Hotel, Nairobi. The event focused on unpacking the National Building Code 2024. It was insightful to hear from esteemed panelists such as Arch.Segecha Bernard, Arch. Nickson Otieno, and Susan Rutto.

A key takeaway was the consensus on the urgent need to transition from the outdated 1968 building code to the new National Building Code 2024. The panelists emphasized that while this shift is crucial, significant efforts are required to ensure its full implementation.
