♻️ A new HRMaaS journey begins! ❤️

Yesterday, Rhoda, our HR Lead at Alternate Doors, and I spent the day with one of our newest clients — Africa Collect Textiles (ACT).

ACT is doing incredible work in the circular economy — collecting, reusing, upcycling and recycling textiles and footwear while creating jobs and reducing waste. They’ve already created 200+ jobs. 👏🏾

As they grow, Alternate Doors is supporting them through our HR Manager as a Service (HRMaaS).

We’re physically onsite twice a month, have weekly virtual meetings with the Directors, and provide ongoing remote HR support in between.

To be honest, it feels like HR is there full-time — and that's exactly the point.

HRMaaS gives growing businesses access to an HR function and HR team without necessarily employing a full-time senior HR Manager.

And yes… they feed us when we're onsite. 😂❤️ Breakfast/lunch and HR? No complaints here!

A strike may stop flights, but the workplace issues behind it shouldn’t stop us from paying attention.

Kenya’s aviation workers’ strike is a reminder that employee relations are business relations.

When concerns around collective bargaining, compensation and workplace conditions remain unresolved, the impact can go beyond employees — it can affect operations, customers and the entire organisation.

For HR professionals and employers, the question isn’t simply “How do we respond when employees strike?”

It’s “What can we do before it gets to that point?”

Listen to your people.
Communicate clearly.
Honor agreements.
Address concerns early.
And build a workplace where employees feel heard.

Because good HR isn’t reactive. It’s proactive.

Not every performance issue needs the same solution. Sometimes you train, sometimes you make the tough call but great customer experience always starts with the right people and the right behaviours.

When you know something will affect your customers, don’t wait for them to experience the problem first.

Pre-communicate. Set expectations. Give people the information they need to adjust.

Because sometimes, good customer experience is simply keeping your promise and communicating when things change.

**WE’RE HIRING – ELECTRICAL ENGINEER | TUBE MILL**

📍 **Jinja, Uganda**
🌍 **Open to Kenyan & Ugandan Nationals**

We’re looking for an experienced **Electrical Engineer with specific Tube Mill experience** to support the electrical, automation and control systems of a steel pipe manufacturing operation.

**What you’ll handle:**
⚙️ AC/DC motors, VFDs, inverters & drive synchronization
💻 PLC, SCADA & HMI control systems
⚡ PCC/MCC panels, ACBs & power distribution
🔧 Electrical troubleshooting & preventive maintenance
🏭 Supporting automated mill and cut-off systems while minimising production downtime

**What we’re looking for:**
✔️ Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering
✔️ **8–10 years’ experience in Tube Mill operations**
✔️ Strong industrial electrical & automation experience
✔️ Hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance capability
✔️ Kenyan or Ugandan nationality

⚠️ **Tube Mill experience is a key requirement for this role.**
